Actually, 3 is average. Lowest is 1, not 0.

I love DFH 60 minute. That doesn't mean everyone does, or has to. It also isn't an indicator of it being good or bad. it's just a beer I like. Has anyone here ever heard of Natto ? (Japanese fermented soy beans). I love the stuff. most people would hate it. Is it crap? I don't know. I like it, that's all I know.

Ratings only matter when YOU rate something. It's your rating that counts.

Start off with some APAs and malt 'heavy' American IPAs.

I'm still not into the real bitter stuff, but I really found myself starting to like hops after drinking beers like Deschutes Mirror Pond (though I see you are in New Hampshire - maybe you can get your hands on a Troegs Pale Ale) & Sierra Nevada Celebration (which should be coming out soon-ish). Start from there and just expand at your own pace.

Also have a go at Dogfish Head 90 Minute. I liked this way before I liked anything with a bitter presence.

I feel like we've seen this thread many a time before. As your palate changes, you may or may not like IPAs. For example. everyone I know loves lettuce. In all my years, I have never liked it. And I continue to try it, just to be sure. But it's never changed for me. Where as I once used to hate brussel sprouts, and now love them. Same thing goes for beer. Keep trying them. But yes, you may end up never liking them.

I've seen too many people go down this path. Starts with a little bit in your steak marinade, next thing you know you're giving handies down by the pier for your next shire fix.

I didn't like them either. It took big strong, bitter stouts to open my mind about IPAs.

I transitioned from malty beers from Firestone such as Double Barrel Ale and started drinking hoppier beers such as their pale ale. I remember I tried Union Jack (which is one of my favorites now) but I hated it! I drank Liberty Ale from Anchor Steam and I fell in love with hops after that. I would recommend it. Lagunitas IPA is not as hoppy but it is refreshing as an entry IPA. If you want to get something great, try Ballast Point Sculpin IPA. That is truly delicious!

I never liked IPAs until Pliny the Elder. Now I am obsess with IPAs. Go with one that is balance and pack a punch of flavor like Ballast Point Sculpin or Deschutes Fresh Squeezed.

As many (a few??)have stated, drink what you like. If you never end up liking IPAs, the world won't stop turning.

Great point made about fresh IPA's. I love IPA's, but I hate old stale IPA's and DIPA's, they're quite nasty, so it would stand to reason old product isn't conducive to enjoying that style at it's best. So check dates, Two Hearted is usually always fresh everywhere and it's bottle dated, and usually 2-3 weeks old. If Two Hearted doesn't really work for you more aggressive styles won't either. As a point to freshness I'd bet the vast majority are past their optimum drink by date, and for most there's no way to know, so I'd start with Two Hearted, Dales Pale Ale, and check out Gordons, both of thee by Oskar Blues and they're dated on the bottom of the cans. Look for stuff that's less than 30 days old to be fair to style.

This comment FTW. I think people force themselves to like something just because everyone else does (ESPECIALLY BA's). It's good to be iconoclastic sometimes.

I like bitterness, just not the flavor profiles that IPA's use, so I'm with you. Always feel like I'm drinking ground up christmas trees when I try an IPA. Not for me. I'll take a stout any day.

If you have to ask................... then I should say that the answer is no. But don't despair, there are so many other styles of beer to love.

    Cheers

Unless you reeaallly dislike them, I would say keep trying here and there. That's the fun part about craft beer is that there are always new and different types of beers to try. Maybe a session IPA or a more citrusy IPA will be to your liking. Who knows. If the traditional historical story of IPAs is true, the English army probably didn't prefer them at first, but it was better than no beer at all. When they returned home, IPAs was their craving!
    Have fun with it.

Like others, I recommend some of the maltier double IPAs like 90 minute IPA and Unearthly. You might try some of the oak aged versions like Burton Baton, Oak aged Unearthly, or 21st Amendment Hop Crisis. 90 minute IPA was my gateway beer into the world of IPAs.
