As I was walking to class today, I happened upon a lamp post with a small sign that said "Craft Beer = White Supremacy". What the hell!? :astonished::angry: That really ground my gears like no tomorrow. So now anyone who likes craft beer is a white supremacist? I guess that's a big portion of the world at this point, and increasing every year. The mental gymnastics some people go through...

Craft beer is a pretty "white person" hobby, but I think someone was just trying to get a response. Like they did.

Well, yeah. Phantom chairs, multi-hour line-standing, mules, expensive trading, it's kind of a crazy deal. Plus, humans are nuts in general, so add alcohol, and yer gonna get some responses from the poles.

The first thought that crossed my mind, was that this must be the latest marketing ploy by InBev-Ab. :-)

Even though some people would think of it as a joke, others might think that it's true, which wouldn't surprise me in the current political climate.

Your question presupposes that people were once sane. With the ample and awful evidence supplied by history, I don’t believe that has ever been true.

In any event, I have heard on good authority that some people even take to beer, craft or not, to deal with the overwhelming craziness they experience in this world. I can only, however, recommend this approach in moderation.

People were never sane, they just kept a semblance of it. :grinning: WE WERE ALL CRAZY TO BEGIN WITH! EVERYONE FLEE FOR THEIR LIVES!

But if you didn't, how would you let the world know you're going crazy?

Kind of like everyone who voted for Trump is a white supremacist right? lol.
Maybe people are going crazy. Or perhaps it is because the predominant ethnic group that enjoys craft beer are white folks (No I am not saying all, just majority that I see at events etc.)
So maybe ppl see that and that's genuinely what they believe. If so, that would be more sad than crazy.

I wouldn't put it past people to believe such things. Humans have a track record of thinking in the most irrational ways possible.

As many people have pointed out the white supremacy thing probably isn't meant to be take literally. However saying that craft beer is liked by "a big portion of the world at this point" probably says something about your own bubble..

What I meant by craft beer also covered traditional beer brewed in Germany, Belgium, England, etc. (i.e. good beer) Not sure what my "bubble" would be.

Whom ever posted such a stupid sign were after the response that you gave to us here. You, me, and all these good people here at BA drink craft beer because it's good and we like it! Don't let some hater ruin your day! Enjoy the good beer!!

    Cheers all!!

Sure thing. I was only pointing out that it's empirically untrue that craft beer, a hobby for a largely young, male, white and somewhat urban group, is embraced by a large portion of the world. And I get that that craft beer is getting more diverse, and the price of entry is relatively low, but the demographics are still pretty overwhelming. I know nothing about you, but I could see how some craft drinkers might think everyone is into their hobby, but it's just not true.

Also, a quick google search found the probable source of the sticker https://actionfrontblog.wordpress.c...-supremacy-part-2-craft-beer-white-supremacy/
Just for the record I don't agree at all with the argument set forth in this link

It tastes good, makes me feel funny, and it makes other people more interesting. Indeed, enjoy good beer!!!

Also, looking at their twitter has similar messages (like #Abolishcraftbeer). Sounds like they actually believe that. It looks like they are an anti-fascist/anarchist group.

Their second demand is fine and I applaud all breweries who do so. Their first demand is not realistic for the majority of breweries. Their third demand, while I'm liberal and agree with BLM, I'm not touching.

Don't worry I don't think BLM has an official position on craft beer
