Are there issues with our distributors?

It seems like we are getting smaller allotments from national special releases? The BCBS situation is literally a buzzkill. I'm getting pics from CA, CO, FL, MD of variants and regular BCBS. I heard we are getting 25% of last yrs allotment. We haven't gotten Abyss yet and KBS seemed limited last yr too.

Does anyone know the scoop? I'm wondering if our distributors have burned bridges along the way.

Breweries keep adding new markets while producing the same amount of product. That leads smaller quantities of special releases. Local brewers are cutting in to the bigger craft brewers (DFH, Founders, Bells, Goose, etc..) and in return they must cover more ground to make the money they need.

We are getting 25%, not a small cut. I got pics and reports of variants in 4 states. We're getting next to nothing. Got the report from a beer store. BCBS doesn't need more ground to cover local breweries. It isn't Leines.

Based on our Backwoods Bastard allotment, I was wondering the same thing...

Everywhere that had BCBS last year has had their allotment cut because it is going nationwide...

As far as Founder's, they really are not that big of a brewery (check the stats) but keep adding state after state (Texas, Florida, Nebraska, and Kansas, this year and maybe more). Takes a little while to ramp up production of barrel aged beers.

Edit: Nebraska did not receive Coffee or Backyard yet, but I have no reason to think they aren't coming.

Des Moines received a 3rd of what they did last year. Omaha less than half. (Des Moines got so much more than Omaha last year that I bet they still got more than us this year)

We went from 180 cases a few years ago to 3. Distributors can only distribute what they get. I highly doubt Goose Island offered your distributor 20 pallets of beer to cover the market and they decided to only order 1 instead.

Holy shit..John's right? That is beyond stupid..really wish they had waited to distro nationwide when they actually had enough beer.

I was going to start a similar thread today. The lack of abyss and bcbs is annoying

I can say that if you are seeing this in CA, just adding that market in a modest way, would likely have a severe impact across all existing markets, if there was no increase in production. You have to keep in mind how densley populated most parts of that state can be. LA county alone has close to double the population of the whole state of MN (and is probably more or less double the populations of most midwest states). And that isn't even covering what most people think of as the greater LA area (Orange County, Ventura County, Kern County & San Bernardino County). Now you are starting to look at the population equivalent of about 4 or 5 Midwest states. And that isn't even talking about San Diego County (and their surrounding counties) or the multitude of counties that make up the greater San Francisco Bay Area. So if GI has attempted to make even the slightest blip on the California radar with these releases in just a few markets, without a major increase in production, then it would affect availability in many states.

That isn't an issue with distributors, as the subject line reads, that is just how breweries decide how and when they enter new markets. GI has been there for years and on occasion some of the original Bourbon County made it out there, but mainly it was Sophie and Matilda.

Sorry, yeah, here at John's. We used to get a heck of a lot more, usually enough to last us for a few months.

We haven't seen Abyss and it drove through the state on 94 enroute to Eastern states. We haven't seen BCBS. I know people who found 4 variants and 3 who got 8 bottles of BCBS in 4 different states today. They adverstised it as a Black Friday event. We are getting shutout. The conspiracy is on if the late Abyss shipment is sparse.

We didn't get a lot of variants last year. How is Minnesota arbitrarily cut off?

Ever wonder how other states feel when Minnesota gets a new brewery distribution? They likely feel the same thing. My go-to Wisconsin store got 2X as much as they did last year....seems weird you would get 25%

Abyss is being released next week. Getting about 25% more than last year.

Two years ago I wouldn't have believed anyone if they told me that I'd have to trade to get BCBS someday. Damn it just keeps getting bigger. I thought this was all going to peak by now. GI could eliminate all the garbage that collects dust on shelves and concentrate more on its barrel line. I've had some bad bottles with that goose on them.

A guy in Tampa told me he saw a clerk cart 4 cases of BCBS and he had more today at one store.

It seems that most places (except New York, etc) would see a smaller part of their normal in their allotment of [ast years. That would really suck Goose Island/InBev. But seems most of what I have heard is that most places will see an increase but it might not seem like that because of the increase of BCBS lovers. Just what I have heard. I don't know anymore than than what I have some across here.

I've also heard about distributors saying you need to make that big space a Johnson's Vodka place and then we'll make sure you get hooked up with good stuff. That's pretty Wacked!!! That's totally f****cked. It's like the beer mafia. And don't you think that the mafia doesn't get into the beer business. They are into all places they can make money.

A guy in MD is shocked that we aren't getting BCBS saying there is plenty to go around there.
