high of 54 and low of 52 degrees over a month's time
    between 44 and 50% humidity

    Just curious.

Sounds more than fine to me. What makes you think that's unacceptable?

I've heard that wine "coolers", bring too much moisture in the mix. Then I researched and found that people suggest a humidity level of 70-75% for cork preservation. Was kind of confused by that. Thanks for the reply.

I'm using a 38 bottle wine cooler I bought about 6 months ago used for 40$ from a moving company/ furniture store. It hold temp really well, but I was just curious about the moisture / humidity.

You should be fine - refrigerators tend to hold very low humidity, and that can be bad for a cork over long stretches of time. Considering most of your stuff is going to be crowned (rather than corked) and drunk in less than 5 years, you've got some great conditions there - 50% is still pretty high; that's where my basement usually is, and corks have no problem with it.

Thanks for that. It is mostly cantillon so I guess both, but I'm assuming the cap protects the cork from losing moisture to some extent? Any suggestions on how to add a little more moisture consistently with restricted space to do so?

You can always put a little dish of water in the bottom of the cooler to try to up the humidity, but at 50% already you'll be fine unless you're talking about aging for decades. (and even then, you're still probably fine)

Agreed, you're fine here. Nearly ideal temp and pretty close on humidity as well. From what I understand, the aim should be 55F/50-55%. Lower than 40% humidity is where the cork could possibly start to cause issues and higher than 60% could possibly promote rusting of bottle caps if given the right circumstances. I'd err to the side of higher humidity though, as most cap rust will only affect aesthetic.
