This is the current tap list at whole foods PM. Is it me or are these priced crazy. This WF seems to be getting way up in price since the new beer guy took over.

    Enjoy

BCBS runs anywhere from $5.50 to $8 for 12 oz, from what I've seen. Christmas Bomb! clocks in between $10-12 for a 12 oz bottle. Extrapolating that up to the 32 oz growler size, and the prices seem high, but not incredibly so (using those two examples, the Bomb! is a decent price, while the BCBS is a little overpriced, but not dramatically).

Can't give comparisons for the others; nor am I saying that the prices aren't too high. Just that they don't seem astronomically so (then again, I'd expect the price for 32 oz to be better, not worse, than buying individuals...and then again again, you're also paying for the growler glass price, I assume, which would be another few bucks on top).

I can't speak for all of those, but you should be able to get the Xmas bomb for for less than $30. A dollar an oz is nuts, if it were pirate bomb...maybe.

That Pizza Boy price is similar to what we pay at Pizza Boy I believe. It's a damn fine beer too.

Abyss was $14 - 16 last year in PA. In all.. yeah id say they are priced steep. That Pizza Boy brew is probably your best bet from this list . I think Sunny Side up is $8 - 10 for a bomber.

The new beer guy in Plymouth meeting is a character to say the least. I've seen him have the other staff lie to customers that call in about limited release bottles. For example, last week I was in the store buying abraxas and someone called in while I was there. The person told them they were out. After they hung up I asked why would they tell someone calling in that and I was told the beer guy wanted people to come in to check limited release stock.

Let me get this right. The manager wants people to come in looking for a beer he says he is out of.......head scratcher there.

They got a new beer guy? I haven't really gone there much since they opened the Wegmans in Montgomeryville. What happened to Bill? I liked that guy. Always incredibly helpful, he was.

There seems to be a significant difference in the growler pricing from one Whole Foods to the next here in the DC area.

That said, those prices are still way, way high.

I've noticed Whole foods at every location has raised growler prices on everyday stuff to high end stuff like the OP posted. They have also started to gouge on select 4 packs..

Whole Foods has had Rueueze on the shelf for 19$ a bomber and it hasn't moved. That Sam Adams stuff is way though.

Not just 4 packs either. There used to be many $8 four packs that are now $10-12. There also used to be a good selection that now is not so good. Have not seen Tilquin in a long while and it was always there in both bottle sizes. Siberian stout used to be an $8 four pack and it's up 50%.

I have almost stopped buying beer at WF anymore due to price/selection.

    Enjoy

The ones I noticed being overpriced were Dirtwolf at 10-12 and Allagash white for the same.(I noticed the white was so high because I bought the dubbel for 8$) There are definitely some more but they seem to raise the price on stuff that sells. Now if the could only figure out a way to stop their employees from buying up all the desirable bottles that come in week to week..

@JackHorzempa also noted similar claims of unfair 4 pack pricing in the past few days.

I used to pick up RR sours that were priced at $12-14 and lined up on the counter at a 1 per. Now the bees behind the counter are very expensive. Not seen a RR besides damnation in over a year but I also don't stop by 3x a week anymore.

    Enjoy

I stopped going there when they raised the price of Arrogant Bastard from $4.50 to $6.50, AND they had the balls to put a "great price" shelf tag next to it when they did it. I don't even buy Arrogant Bastard but that really rubbed me the wrong way.

I used to love that they had a deep selection, but not a broad one. Now it's full of crap like Starr Hill and mediocre semi-local breweries and 40 different ciders. It's not even that easy to find common beers like Lagunitas seasonal bombers anymore. Obviously they're not a specialty shop so they're gonna stock what sells, but it's still disappointing.

Off-topic, but Starr Hill's Snow Blind Doppelbock is really excellent
