I don't know if I would call it spoiled, but overwhelmed for sure. I think we get so excited to try these breweries new to our market because we hear and read so much about them on BA and elsewhere we just want to see what all the whodido is about; substantiate they hype for ourselves. Lucky for me, I'm poor and can't afford to run out and buy every new brew to hit the shelves

There are so many great beers available from our own backyard that I feel stand up to, if not surpass those from other large local markets that are now being distributed here. That's not to say I don't want to or haven't tried these, but given the choice between a Texas brewed beer over another craft brew when I'm trying something new, I'll choose local 9 outta 10. But that's just my Texas blood talking

I don't know about you guys, but I drink a lot of the new, GOOD, beers we get. Shiny and new is just that. The reliable stuff stays a part of my rotation.

What do I not buy anymore now that some solid new beers have entered the market? The stuff I don't like as much as the newly available good stuff.

Yup, we're nearing the point where the bubble will pop. There's only so much room on the shelf and not everyone will make it in the long run, especially since a tiny market segment is divided up so many ways (in terms of how many craft breweries up and running nowadays).

Are you referring to TX or the US in general?

Just like the housing market collapse, I'm gonna blame it on Californians.

No, not just TX. Craft beer in general.

On the note of Allagash too - it sucks seeing the damage from pulling out because you are overextending, vs never expanding to an area.

I can the bubble bursting for a few of the bigger breweries. The are a lot of smaller breweries like Karbach and Deep Ellum who are keeping their distro at arms length that wouldn't be impacted as much. I think this will be more of a norm as we head into the future, smaller regional breweries with very limited distribution to surrounding areas.

Nationally, I agree that there is an over-saturation of craft breweries. I think TX still has a lot of room for growth, though. I think we're reaching a point where mediocre breweries will have a hard time being successful in TX, but there's still plenty of room for more above average breweries. The same can't be said in some other parts of the country where you see shelf turds that would consistently fly off the shelf here in TX, or more likely not even make it onto a shelf in the first place. In markets where world-class shelf whalez go overlooked, how hard do you suppose it is for local startups to establish themselves?

As a state, I see us as a few years behind the rest of the country in terms of growth. The fact that we're the third-largest growing producer in the country is encouraging, but I think a lot of that growth is the result of us finally coming out of the dark ages. What we're seeing right now is the surge of a local industry coming out of the wilderness, not the bubble that other parts of the country are on the verge of bursting. I think we'll hit our bubble eventually, but we still have plenty of room for more growth at the moment.

Despite the 50 jokes that it's bad, it's quite good. Quite Quite good. I'd do "things" to get my hands on a raspberry Ananke if the fruit character was still prevalent.
