If its a new brewery that I've never been to and they have flights I'm all in

Not really a fan of flights. I like to weed out styles I'm not into, but also find it hard to get a good sense of the beer when I go from one to another so quickly.

I love flights and I love full pours.

But they serve completely different purposes for me. When I get a flight, its to sample beers I have not tried to determine if I want to buy bottles. I'm not expecting to be able to write a review, but I can determine fairly quickly if its a beer I wish to explore further.

If I just want to enjoy a beer, I get a full pour.

If I want to fully appreciate the beer, I get it from properly stored bottle, that is chilled to the right serving temperature, pour it into proper glassware for the style, at a time when my palate is fresh.

I'm all about flights, especially if it's a brewery I'm somewhat unfamiliar with. I get a much better feel for what they're about that way. Plus, I don't really want to get super drunk when I'm visiting a brewery, but I'm horribly indecisive, so flights are a win win.

100% situational. If there are more beers that I want to try than I want to drink pints, I will order a flight. That simple.

If I'm visiting a brewery on vacation and I know I will never be back. I will probably order a flight so I can try as many of their brews as possible. Then if I have enough time I'll get a pint of my favorite. Also depends on if I am in the mood. SO my answer. Maybe.

I usually get flights when they're available. I've had flights at non-breweries. I like to try everything. Then when I find the one I like the best I get a pint of that.

hopefully this was sarcasm. If not, your first statement is stupid and wrong, and the second part doesn't even make sense.

If it's a new brewery for me, I'll order a flight. I write a review here on BA for each brewery visit, and I think that I've gotten pretty good at evaluating a brewery's overall beer quality by just drinking a flight of 3-5 ounce pours. I won't rate these beers individually here on BA on the basis of such a small sample, but I score each beer on a scale of 1-5 and then will make a generalized overall comment about the beers in my reviews.

If I get to pick the beers, yes. Just did that at Barley Johns this evening. If I can't pick the beers, nope.

At a place with many styles and brands, I get a flight to decide what pints to order.

First time in a new brewery or brew pub I'll get a flight. Or if I know I'll never be back. It allows me to try to greatest number of new beers in a sitting. Once I know the line, though, definitely not.

They're always a good idea in my mind, but I usually end up disappointed that I got one. I like being able to try several different beers, but I don't feel like I get a good representation of any single beer from a ~4 oz pour.

    Oooohhhh Yeeaaaahh! (Machi Man voice)

I enjoy just about every style, so flights are like crack for me. Also, there are way to many shitty beers at the smaller breweries to be ordering pints of something I have never had. Best (aka cheapest) way to weed out the rest and get a big pour of the best. Just make sure to have enough water to rinse between samples

As a hard-lined rater, flights can be overwhelming. Doesn't mean we don't try and tackle them from time to time.

Depends. In a new city or new place that has a lot of great offerings, flight for sure. A place that I can go to regularly, I explore a pint at a time.

I've had one flight at a brewery and I felt it was insufficient, I prefer to pick a few beers and enjoy more than a few ounces.
