I rate every new beer I drink. Cause that's kinda the point of this site. I review beers that I have something interesting to say about.

I originally joined BA because I realized that I couldn't always recall what I had liked in the past, or how much I liked it. I needed somewhere to keep track of it all. So I tend to tick or, more rarely write a review, for just about everything.

I review, but only beers I have drank in the last hour or 2. I never try to rely on memory to review or rate.

Funny, I'm actually considering doing this after seeing this topic today, good stuff.

    Yes.

And I also have a personal rating system to prevent re-purchasing of crappy beer.

I stopped rating about 5 years and 2000 beers ago for various reasons. As for ticking, I have no interest in that.

I mainly wanted some place to log the beers I've tried, and especially a mobile list of beers I want to try. At the store, pull up my list and see if that's one I'd earmarked to try. BA is easier (and better) than a Google Docs sheet.

I don't like the "social apps" as I don't like Facebook or Twitter or Google+ or any of that. I really don't care that much what anybody else is drinking.

"Like OMG, Billy is totally drinking an Amberbock at the ball park, backwards hat, duck face and all."
    Good. For. Him.

no. that's my deep dark ba confession. I very seldom spend the time to analyze a beer. I think it's because it detracts from the simple pleasure of mindlessly drinking it. Sorry everyone....

Just joined here on BA, although I've used the site for a year to pick some beer while shopping.

I like to review, because putting what I think into words helps me understand what I'm experiencing better. I've done two reviews since joining (third in the works) and I'm sure I have a lot more to learn so I keep it light hearted to avoid sounding too snobby.

I really think it helps to review as well as rate. Of course, this won't be everyone's point of view, but we're just having fun at the end of the day

I like rating. Helps me keep track of beers I've had and how much I liked them. I've been meaning to write reviews more. It helps to read some reviews in order to determine whether or not searching for/purchasing a brew is worth while. Also helps identifying the profile (I wouldn't know what I was smelling otherwise).
As Kermit the Frog once said; "If you're only drinking beer to get drunk. Drink some high gravity malt liquor, you simple bitch! I appreciate the complexity!!"

I used to a do a lot of reviewing when I seemed to have more time. Nowadays I at least try to rate the beers I drink.

Yes, if rater = ticker. Lately I have been considering reviewing more and will probably re-visiting old beers to review.

i just like the idea of reliving every beer i drink, or living it twice, often simultaneously, where else in life can we do that? its also a cool database for homebrewing referencing

I've been a reviewer and a ticker depending on time and motivation. Either way I try to give a fair appraisal.
