I got home this afternoon and was trying to decide whether or not to call up a few friends and go out for a beer, or if I wanted to stay home and enjoy one unaccompanied. Obviously, since I'm sitting here writing to you fine folks, I chose the latter. I often find my decision is to stay home more times than it is to go out. It's not that I'm particularly shy or socially awkward, I certainly would like to see my friends, and it's always a good time meeting new people wherever it is we decide to go. However the thought of enjoying a beer without needing to stick to a schedule, or find a DD ,or any other constraints that come along with hanging out socially, just sounds better.

Just wondering, when you want to take the time to enjoy a beer, are you an introvert on an extrovert?

I prefer a small group, quiet setting, and good conversation; I'll leave the noise, the crowds, and the lines for others.

    Introvert.

I wish I could say I'm an extrovert to sound cool but there's nothing better to me than just kicking back and trying a new brew while watching a game in the comfort of your own home. Don't get me wrong, craft beer bars have the advantages of having taps and some friendly people to enjoy your beer with but there's nothing wrong with being a loner every once in a while, right?

Introvert, I usually enjoy it best at home.

That being said to avoid becoming a hermit I do venture out and find 2-3 people, at the most, that I know on Untappd and it's usually in a "quiet" bar or restaurant.

Extrovert, but that's because I'm young.

I'll call people to my house- better beer selection, better music selection, cheaper overall, more to do (games and such). That said, I'm not adverse to going out, especially if I know there's something special on tap.

    Introvert

    Both.

I'm a misanthrope when I'm sober so a beer before I meet others is my way to go. Yet, I also like to meet other Local BAs or Share a few with my friends...(4 of them to be exact).

I would love to go out but price and no DD lets me enjoy sitting at home more.

I definitely appreciate the company of good friends and/or family, but this post sums things up pretty nice for me.

Introvert, my job has made me come to the realize that most people just suck. I love to stay home drink a beer and smoke a cigar by the fire. My wife drinks wine so I have no one to talk beer with, that is why I like this site so much.

    I'm an introvert by nature.

Having said that, in my younger days, drinking beer always involved going out with friends.

Today, the opposite is true. My beer drinking friends have married and moved on both literally and figuratively, just as I have.

These days, most of the time, enjoying a beer means relaxing at home. Which I should say is something I look forward to.

However I also visit tasting rooms frequently enough and attend a number of festivals every year, so that I still get my share of socializing with other beer advocates.

Prefer with a small group of friends. In general though, beer or no beer, I'm more comfortable with a small group of people I know well than making smalltalk with dozens of strangers in a night.

If I'm drinking alone, it's because I haven't thought of anything better to do that night. Or because I'm watching a dumb comedy. Dumb comedy requires alcohol. It made Saturday Night Live funny again.

Introvert. Always have been. Although I have been working on it. A couple of neighbors are craft beer advocates, so it's getting better!

I'm always recalcitrant about going out but once I'm there have the best time.
    Still an introvert though.

My thoughts exactly! The kinds of bars I like tend to have the vibe of being in a living room, too.

I prefer the term "homebody"... When I don't have to be at work, I prefer to spend what limited free time I have with my family. And because not all establishments that serve good beer are particularly kid-friendly (if they don't outright prohibit kids), and because my wife basically never drinks anything containing alcohol, the result is that I do the vast majority of my beer drinking at home. I enjoy going out when I can, it just doesn't usually work out that way.

I'm either an introverted extrovert or a extroverted introvert whatever the case, bars & beer joints are fun once in a while but too loud. I generally prefer to have family and friends over for good times, good food and great beer!

Maybe wrong to do, but I assume the majority of people who frequent BA (most especially the forums) are more introverted craft beer drinkers...

    ...and that includes me.

Although I'm a bit of an extraintrovert on the whole. :stuck_out_tongue:
