Probably not. Although some do morph more dynamically over time with a bit of warming. Two hands around a pint can warm it quickly.
Most folks drink red wine at too high of a temperature, and if you like whiskey on the rocks, too low and possibly too watered down if it isn't on a solid block of ice. Do what you like. It's your dollar.
Do you remember the Denver contingent of Bar Tourists of America in about '80? They lacked interesting bars and beers. They organized an analysis of draft Coors Beer at a bunch of neighborhood bars. One of the measurements was serving temperature. I don't have the result, but I suppose they observed some frosted glasses.
I store high abv, heavy malt beers on the bottom shelf of my basement bar and drink them at cellar temp. It never gets too hot in the summer nor too cold in the winter, so it's a perfect place for such beers. Very hoppy and lighter malt beers get kept very cold in my beer fridge. I almost always give them a chance to warm up a bit before drinking them.
There used to be a bar review column in the local New Brunswick NJ paper that rated them higher the colder the draught beer was. "A++ My hand was stuck frozen to the mug!"
Everyone here knows that. I like Imperial Stouts, but at least i dont need a certain temp range to enjoy them.
A two-hour-beer?........ A two-hour-meal?..........just sit right back & you'll hear a tale...... I've had some brews (& many new-to-me-for-the-first-time) that were so tasty, delicious and thirst-quenching they were, "gone in 300 seconds" as I typed my Dumcrapped review. Granted, those brews were also probably the first ones of the day, on a hot summer day or when I was thirsty but even if'n they were a higher alcohol 7-8%er instead of the 4-5-6% variety, SLURP & down the hatch they went whether it was a 12 or 16oz. offering! Of course, those brews definitely got a second, third, 4 pack or more buy but ......TWO HOURS?!? The last time it took two hours for me to finish a brew was years ago.....certainly a high double-digit beer like 120 Minute or any BCBS stout......and then it was probably because I'd already had a few before deciding to have that, "just one more". (....I've explained what happens with that, "just one more" experience in another thread....)
