Sometimes the line is the best part.

Remark to my earlier post: After chasing today to end up with 2 bottles of BCBS and 1 Barleywine....I'm done chasing!! Only trades from now on for this stuff.
And what's with the lower ABV for both this year?

Never been into the chase to begin with. I occasionally like trying to set up a trade while I'm traveling, but I've never been interested in driving around and calling stores to try to figure out if a beer is going to be in stock.

After today yes, 2 hours in line for 1 BCBS and 1 BW not worth it

Lines for BCBS? I expect it to sit on shelves for months, except the variants. I want a vanilla rye, and think I have it lined up with a local shop. No lines, no hassle. I wouldn't wait in any long lines for beer.

Think the proper term you're looking for is 'Murica

The less I try, the more whales I've come across. Funny how that works

Never started, never will. As soon as I found out what "the chase" was, I was over it immediately.

Over it? I'm just getting started...

Actually stood in line today for beer for the first time ever for BCBS. 1.5 hours but walked away with my allotment three 4-packs (BCBS, BCBW, BCCS) and a bomber of Vanilla Rye. For that I think I would do it again.

I've never been into the chase. I like good beer as much as anyone else but I'm not going to stand in line for it. I can find plenty of great beer on the shelf. I got a 4 pack last year of BCBS at my local grocery store. I was there getting groceries and walked down the beer aisle like I always do and it was sitting there on the shelf.

Was never into it, I leave that to others...it's only beer.

I won't overpay, I won't wait in a huge line, but I do enjoy the chase. I think it adds a challenge and a subsequent feeling of reward to this craft beer hobby of mine. But if every good beer was hard to get, I'd be frustrated and may get out of the game. However, if every good beer was suddenly magically available, I would feel that we lost something.

Been there, done that, and not gonna deny - it was fun! Where I live nowadays, I've got a lot of choice when it comes to beer, so am not into chasing any more...plus for good reasons or bad, plain old regulars like - Old Raspy, Narwhal, Torpedo, Sculpin etc etc etc seem to quench my thirst for good beers just fine.

Being the person that the beer fellows save beer in the "back" for, I see no problem since it is for a good customer and not someone who just happened upon a review and noticed it is rare such as Pliny WHICH I have yet to try.....yet is a key word.
I consider it mutual appreciation and in some respects admiration for having the first hand knowledge of what is worthy of experiencing.

I could see how I would get sick of it. I trade a lot right now but as I knock off the easier to find beers moving up to the whalez could get frustrating. I like to try everything and takes notes on the ones id like to try again.

I've never gotten into the chase. If good beer is there, I buy it. If not, I dont. I was able to get some BCBS today by simply becoming a good customer over the past year to a local bottle shop, I spend my $$ at his place and I'm taken care of.

I 'chased' for the first time today. I am a letter carrier and am lucky enough to have an ABC on my route. I have gotten friendly with the employees the last couple of years. I knew BCBS was in today, and I asked if they could hold me a 4-pk. They did indeed, so when I was off shift, I went and picked it up. And no, I don't feel ashamed.

My wife and I go over to our friends house most Fridays so I've gotten to know the owner of the party store out there that we stop at. He usually saves stuff for me. That is about the most effort I am willing to put in to seek out beer.

While everyone was out waiting in lines, running to different places looking for BCBS, I slept in til about noon and watched some football. I should have a couple bottles waiting for me when I stop by the party store tonight. Being a loyal customer pays off sometimes.

This is one of the main reasons I haven't done a trade since 2011. The other is that getting to FedEx/UPS is much more complicated since I moved.
