Being from Wisconsin, I have a slight bias towards New Glarus, Ale Asylum, Surly, etc. I'm just curious if y'all tend to favor beer from locations close to where you reside? Please provide examples.

Yes, I'm in Arizona. I vastly prefer beers from nearby states as well as Germany & Belgium. Love my bottle retailers here and beer bars.

I definitely prefer to buy beers from Michigan - Founders, Bell's, and Short's and from nearby breweries like Great Lakes.

ok, Germany, Belgium and Arizona are crap examples. I need examples strictly from Wisconsin.

I'm just saying that when I'm buying beer, I am biased toward beer that is produced in the midwest. For example, I'll buy Surly Cynic before I'll buy any other saison just because it's made in the area. I'm just curious as to the degree at which other BA's are biased.

Having had a few beers made in Nevada ie. Big Dogs & Tenaya Creek. I can attest to the fact that I'll try a beer from anywhere else before turning to a local. Surprisingly, Utah kicks Nevada's ass when it comes to making brews. And it goes without saying California does!

So I have one vote AGAINST favoring local.

I definitely favor beers from the Northeast or New England. Nothing about the beers from there are necessarily better than beer from other locations, I just enjoy supporting local businesses so I try to drink local whenever possible. If I go to a bar and see an NJ beer like Flying Fish, Carton, Kane, NJ Beer Co., Ramstein, I will usually order at least one.

I favored "local" beers for awhile; that is, anything from PA or DE. Thankfully with quality breweries like Troegs, Yards, Weyerbacher, and Dogfish Head I didn't have to force myself to support them.

However, there's way too many great beers for me to stick to regional breweries.

don't drink too many ny beers actually... well, except for resin and 3 bean (me likey 6 points!) Oh, and choklat / creme brulee.

Compare that to what I gurgle down from chicago and CA, and it seems quite modest!

OK, I'm ignorant on the Utah front... which breweries are your favorites?

I wouldn't know. The Midwest and East Coast don't send anything good out here.

Squatter's makes some good beers. Get their Hop Rising DIPA if you ever see it.

I buy local craft beer to support the breweries, and because I like them. They have some solid offerings, but the beers I love all come from other places.

Sometimes the homies make good beer, sometimes they don't.

I think most people do. I think that the easy availability of local beers is what leads to this, in part.
