My mom will be traveling to Sierra Vista and will also be in Tucson for a few hours and possibly Tombstone. Is there any bottle shops worth hitting, and if so what are some good local beers or beers that aren't distributed out East to pick up? I appreciate any and all help.
What I would do - once someone tells you a bottle shop, just call them directly. Ask to talk to the beer guy and tell him what is happening. Get the beer guy to make you a case of beer (give him your $ limit) and see if you can pay for it over the phone once he makes it. Just have your mom swing by and pick up the box - no need for her to do shopping, paying, etc.
I have used this method a couple of times and it just makes it easy for everyone involved. She won't have to wander aimlessly looking at things while the beer store will know exactly what sort of things to grab for you.
I used to live in Sierra vista. There is nothing there. Why on earth is she going there? Ft. Huachuca? I used to go to Tucson to get beer. AJs Fine Foods and BevMo both have very good selection.
If she has free time, tell her to visit Bisbee. It's a cool old mining town, and she should do the Queen Mine tour if she has a chance. There is a food co-op in Bisbee where I scored some good brews now and then. It's next to the Bisbee Breakfast Club, which has awesome food.
Forgot to mention, I always enjoyed Nimbus Old Monkeyshine. She should be able to find that in TUS, maybe even in SV.
My wife is working in Phoenix this next week. Is there any breweries/bottle shops/beers she should be on the look out for? I'm really not familiar with anything Phoenix has to offer. Any help is appreciated!
