Coming to phoenix and bisbee from the midwest at the end of next week. What brews should I look forward to trying?

Any brews that you can't get in the Midwest. The regular lineup for local Arizona beers aren't exactly mindblowing but we have a few good ones, and some of the special kegs they tap are wonderful.

Aside from that, there are lots of breweries that distribute in Arizona but don't get all the way up into the midwest.

    BA guide for Phoenix:
    http://beeradvocate.com/beerfly/city/29

    What styles do you like?

What I love about Phoenix is that we can get so many outstanding beers from somewhere else. Distributors have done an excellent job bringing in U.S. craft options for us.

    Some of my favorites:

    Odell
    Stone
    Ballast Point
    Port Brewing
    Lost Abbey
    AleSmith
    Bear Republic
    Firestone Walker
    Green Flash
    Deschutes
    Full Sail

Whole Foods Chandler is a must stop if you're in the east valley - 31 taps, enormous bottle selection too. Open early in morning which is convenient.

Total Wine & BevMo locations throughout the valley for bottles too. There's a Total Wine on Camelback and one at Desert Ridge shopping right by the 101 & Tatum. Convenient BevMo on your route just off I-17 at Happy Valley.

In Prescott - The Raven is a good cafe/beer bar, and it's around the corner (same block) from Prescott Brewing. I like the thick cut potato wedges at Prescott Brewing. Yum.

If you're staying in downtown Phoenix for a night I would go to Sunup brewery, The Roosevelt, Lost Leaf, or The Main Ingredient. For beer to go I would just find a Total wine or Bevmo close by. If you are staying the night in another part of Phoenix let me know I will recommend other places.

Four Peaks Hop Knot is a very good IPA. I now forgo buying undated bottles of IPAs at the store and find that Hop Knot more than quenches my IPA thirst.

    Their Hefe-weizen is good too.

Cask ales are available midweek, Wednesday I think, until it runs out in a few days.

If your in Tempe you should go to Taste of Tops, Sleepy Dog(not the best but are by Four peaks), Papago brewery, Yucca taproom, or Boulders on Broadway.

I am also planning on going to a Diamondback games do they have any good beer beside the bud/miller/coors triangle. In Minnesota the Twins went smart and brought a Surly cart into the stadium also serve Summit.

I usually spend my time between 2 spots: Papago and Four Peaks. (Yucca is decent as well, but prefer spending many hours at the other two) Haven't been to this Taste of Tops. How long has this been open? Lived in Phoenix for 12 years and since have lived 5 in Ft. Collins so don't remember the place if it was around but sound alright.

Dry hopped Oatmeal Stout on cask with a big piece of ice cream cake makes me glad I can see Four Peaks from my balcony.

Never knew about this site. Really nice way to easily determine what you should be on the lookout for in new states. Thanks!

Taste of Tops is next store to Tops liquor on University. It's been open for about a year with I think 24 routing taps of craft beer. If you haven't been back to Yucca in the past year or two they expanded and have a lot craft beer on tap.

Wow, that Whole Food's in Chandler is really cool, had a few there yesterday and would totally suggest that (happy hour 4-8 weekdays)! Papago tonight, then splitting time between for sure Four Peaks and maybe SanTan tomorrow! Also hit up Sun Devil liquor today and the only place I needed to go to stock up on Alesmith and Ballast+ some ohter randoms to ship back to Ft. Collins.

Glad you liked Whole Foods. Four Peaks is a good place, good beers. One of the few that actually feels like a brewery inside.
