The OP was probably drunk and doesn't even remember making this thread. Happens all the time.

while the influence this has on trade value now (and in 4 years, which could be pretty different) is uncertain, i would guess that any lambic (especially one from drie fonteinen) that's good to begin with will handle 4 years better than any barrel aged stout.

that said, actual bottle count + who bought them and why + how many get lost to the mysterious activity of drinking would all still matter, i would guess.

I disagree. Three Floyds keeps making different variants, which means more first bottlings. I see their value going up. They are also all hand numbered under 500 for most variants. They are 15% you know...

If the base beer is good then I would agree. The barrel just masks the issues with the beer. Mikkeller black is awful but the BA versions are much better as the barrel hides all the weakness in the beer

I have two Armand sets, basically to attain two Lente's. Ive noticed the trade value is far less $4$ against stouts and seem to pull only other sours that you can order online. Makes sense to me, I will be down to one set after The weekend...

I have not had the B.A. DL but Armand especially the lente for me was one of the best beers I've had to date. Sucks they were $60 a piece but now that they are gone I'm sad I only have 2 of them.. I'M certain I wouldn't trade the lente for a B.A. DL but that's just me.

Well, to revive this dead post... 3 Armands = 1 Cognac DL. I had more than 4 people message me with idential offers (full set minus lente) so I don't think it's an outlier.

If you're looking for long term- if you bet against the gueuze, you lose.

So, being of the crowd that usually (and especially for either of these beers) acquires bottles to drink/share... I would likely trade BA DL for 6 Armands

Oh I would too, but I wouldn't trade 6 Armands for a BA DL :grinning:

Was at the brewery last week. The set of 4 is available as a package only for 90 euros, 105 euros with the wooden box. The only one you can buy indiviually is the winter (or was it the Herfst), I forget
