What is the typical price for this in stores on the shelf? I'm seeing bottle for 38 Euros that I can grab here in Spain and I would like to know if that's steep or not... Thanks fellas!

38 Euro sounds right to me

Is it available stateside? I'm looking to get something with good trade value for when I return home because I'm more of a stout fan.

You can absolutely get whales. I did Cognac BADL for 3 of the lesser seasons

Yeah the idea for me is not to spend that much on the Armand if I can't do better $4$ as I can't afford to drop the money for some of the one I'd like to try. I also have St. Lam for around 13 euros, which might be a better buy?

As Mongo said they're available, but only from the Belgian webstores, and those tend to be even more expensive sticker prices plus shipping.

As for tradebait, they're great. If you want to get a good spectrum of stuff you can do that, or (as shmeal said) you can bundle to get something big. If Lente is available that helps a lot, as that is the most sought-after by far (I'm really not sure why, but it is). Having the full set with the pine box helps some too, though I'm honestly not sure why.

If you end up getting them and coming back stateside hit me up, I have lots of stouts I'd trade for lambic.
I'd say slightly worse, but not by much. Armands don't come to the US, St. Lam does.

I'd still have to pay shipping to receive from the distributor here, so in total about 46 euros.. :/

No clue, the lesser seasons aren't whaley enough to get labels.

Are you saying that unless you can trade the beer for more than it's worth, it isn't worth it? I guess you could get some positive ROI if you trade Armand/Lamvinus for shelf beers, but is that really worth it? I'm confused.

Wente is nice. Can only find it in March-ish.

I was half awake when I wrote that... and now it doesn't even make sense to me.

Right now I'm in europe and can find beers like Cantillon and Armand (and I've never seen them back home in the US). Basically, I'd like to find some stouts or other beers that either I can't get a hold of or are out of my budget by trading for higher $4$. I'm sure that sounds bad... but that's part of trading, no?

The stouts that you're probably hunting for will most likely require you to go $4$.

I understand that. My logic is that I pay less (I assume) here than I would pay for the Cantillon and Armand back in the US. I come home for vacation every Summer anyway so I figure I might as well just bring a suitcase of beers back.

Yeah, what are you hunting? That would help a lot. If it's like, BCBS, BT/CR, Hunahpu, etc then regular Cantillon and the Armand's will get it done easily. If it's BADL or BA Hunah or Damon then you'll probably need to go over $4$ if they work at all.

Unless you can get Lente. Lente changes things.

What exactly does Lente trade for? I'm still waiting to hear back about whether it's Lente or not from the company. They have 6 bottles apparently.

Any idea about the trade value of Armand and Tommy? The shop down the road had bottles earlier but by the time I started looking into trading they had just one left (which I bought).

Dude, just look in the ISO:FT forum or post something up. Nobody can tell you what exactly a beer trades for, not even the people who have completed trades for that exact beer. And nobody reading this thread can even tell what you're looking for other than "stouts" - are you just expecting unsolicited offers of rare and expensive stouts?

Frankly, if you're worried about being able to afford beer, you probably shouldn't be spending €38 on a bottle to begin with.

First, read what the guy above said. Second, just tell us what kind of shit you're looking for. I gave you some examples above. Armand & Tommy is probably somewhat less valuable than Armand'4 because it was made more recently, was cheaper, and got distributed to Canada so a lot of people in the US were able to trade for it without dealing with overseas shipping.

Second, if you're looking for shit that I have I would be open to trading away plenty of stouts for these sours, but you NEED to say what you're looking for. Search Armand on ISO:FT if you really need an idea of what the offers are.
