I'm not going, only because I leave for vacation that day.
But $120 all inclusive isn't that hard to come up with.
$18 per beer (these are only offered during breakfast so whalez) = $54 plus $35 for breakfast gets us to $89.
Assume 25% for tip/tax and you are at $111. That leaves a $9 fee for first dibs and guaranteed seat at Stoutfest.

I'm sure it isn't for everyone but it sold out very quickly so I'd say their pricing is if anything slightly below market value.

Calling supply and demand BS while then looking for individual opinions on a specific price as if it means anything is interesting.

I went last year and loved it had one of the best days of the year with a bunch of my friends and met a bunch of great people so to me it is worth it to some it might not be .

Sorry, didn't meant to confuse you. I didn't call supply and demand BS, I called his comment just specifying supply and demand, BS. Obviously, the demand was greater than the supply. But, his answer was in question to another poster asking how the price was worth the admission. He just stated supply and demand (not an applicable answer). So, I asked if he was going and why he thought the ticket was worth the price when there is no information on beers or food. Not that difficult to follow, unless you didn't read the thread.

You didn't confuse me. He answered the main question that was posed and did it succinctly. You called it BS as an answer to the question and we disagree. Nothing missed.

It's ok, you're confused. I get it. The question asked; why the ticket is worth $127. Take supply and demand out of the equation, which isn't the root of the question, and answer why the price is worth admission. Someone asks if lobster at $13.99 lbs is worth it and you answer, supply and demand bro. That's not an answer in regards to if the lobster is worth the price.

But it is determined by demand. The idea behind the free market system is that everything will cost exactly what it is worth, as indicated by the relationship between supply and demand.

If this was 1800 or whatever and lobster was still prisoner food then it would not be worth $13.99/lb. If the zombie apocalypse came and the only food left in the world was a single lobster, it would be worth much more than $13.99/lb.

My god. I understand how supply and demand works. So, you two are saying regardless of what product is offered (since no one knows what the menu is) that because there are a limited amount of tickets the price is worth it regardless of what you get in return. Savvy investors...

We're way off topic here, and I feel like we're sort of discussing different things.

To answer what I think you are getting at, I purchased tickets because Armsby is one of my favorite restaurants and I expect to try three world-class stouts that I would have a lot of difficulty trying anywhere else.

I took the question to mean, what are you getting for the price of admission, which is a fair and imminently reasonable question. The better answer to "why is this $100?" is "Because you get 3 limited beers that are generally priced in the $15 range, and three food items." The worse, although technically correct, answer is "because people have paid it."

I personally enjoy the entire experience and am happy to attend for the 3rd year in a row - although the price has increased steadily. I set money and time aside for this event as the spread of stouts is amazing.

The breakfast is certainly worth the money as the food is incredibly well made and thoughtfully created (sometimes using these rare stouts in the recipe). It's fun to hear the stories from the brewers that are invited - although some are not public speakers...hey, they brew great beer!

It is exciting to 'roll the dice' on the three mystery stouts being offered. Last years offerings were certainly rare and paired and progressed well with the food and morning.

I tuck a bit into the price for having 1st crack at the offerings to the general public as it relieves the stress and time waiting in line (cool mornings + capacity for attendance in the building).

I met some great people last year and we chat from time to time. It's a great community offering and well worth the investment for stories, memories and new friends. I've spent more on meals and not had near as much fun - educationally and brew-wise.

    Just my .02 (or $128)

Ok, thanks for the opinion. That was my basic thought process when looking over the event and deciding if it was for me or not. Obviously it wasn't but enjoy.

Anybody know if there is typically a line for the 12pm opening?

It was pretty sizable last year at open on Saturday. Line started pretty early after Breakfast started. Filled up quickly.

Good Morning was gone in 10-15 minutes. CBS shortly thereafter.

My girlfriend bought me the ticket as an anniversary gift. I was baffled she paid that much, but I was excited either way. For me is very simple, If I think it's not worth the money then I won't attend next year.

Any idea what it will be like Sunday mid afternoon?

Will it still just be stouts or will some get replaced with a more varied tap list as they kick?

It's stouts all weekend. We will keep one line of IPA flowing all weekend on a jockey box and have other styles by the bottle available for a break from the darkness if needed.

Went to the breakfast last year and will be attending this year as well. Everything Armsby Abbey does is done with passion and goes off without a hitch. Looking forward to it.
