Drakes sure knows how to have a smooth release, and today was a prime example. Nice to see some familiar faces in the crowd and meet a handful of new ones. Thankfully I got there early enough to get my kegs, which they only had 9 of. They will be doing another 2 rounds of kegs, but only 12 each time.

Had to leave early for another event, so those of you just arriving, enjoy.

What time did you get there to get a keg? I got there at 11 and I didn't even get close to getting one. How will they announce the release of the next rounds of kegs?

My friend and I were like the 10th and 11th people in line, and we got there round 10:20. Around 10:45, they let people who were there for kegs, go in to get a keg, then get back in line.

I don't think they will announce the next keg releases, so you will have to call.

They had a few on tap. Dark Duck, Cuvee du Mallard, and 1 Candle....their 1 year anniversary beer.

I'm pretty sure it's brewery only.

I have to agree the release was as smooth as can be. Had a cash-only line for those who wanted to get their bottles and run which was almost empty. The non-cash line to the bar took about 10-15 minutes to get to the front and grab some growlers and a pint. Saw a lot of faces I had not seen in a while which tells me I need to get out more and drink less at my house. The drake's employees I dealt were extremely friendly and quick. And you cannot complain about the price of the bottles at 6.50 a bomber. What a deal.

The Aroma coma on tap was very solid and I am very much looking forward to my growler/bottles. I was surprised by how bitter it is. I did not love the Aroma prieta but I am not a fan of the New Zealand hops. I am in the minority in thinking Alpine Nelson is Alpine's worst IPA which most people think is crazy.

It was my first time at Drakes and surely wont be my last.

Now I want to know who you were! You must have been just behind me. I was the dude in the brown shirt with the math joke on it.

Also, while I agree the event went very well, I think they could have sped the CC transactions up a bit. That line was moving a bit more slowly than I'd expect, but having the cash-only bottle line definitely made things better.

As for the beers, I really liked them both, although it seemed like it had more of that awesome nose last year. Might have just been drinking it outside, dunno. Regardless they both tasted great. And the 1-year anniversary beer was awesome, probably my favorite of their BA beers (not that I've tried all that many, they have so many).

My first time to Drake's (finally)And as I still have family in town visiting, they and my wife waited in the car upstairs
while I ran in.Got in the cash and got a sample of each. Then ran over to the bottle line and got 4 Aroma and 2 Prieta.

The Prieta had the definitive IPA smell and taste(my taste anyway).Sweet with a little bitterness. The Prieta had something I would say was almost toasted or nutty. That;s why I got more Prieta.haven't cracked a bottle yet.

Would have been nice to hangout and "enjoy" more from the tap but at least I got some tp take home.

Anyone know if they plan on bringing back Hop Salad? That one has been gone for way too long.

The credit card system they use is always a bit too slow, the bartenders complain about it every time I'm there. Supposedly they are going to do something about it soon...

Yeah, I know, it's really the only weak point for them, hopefully they upgrade it soon.

I brought cash so I could avoid it, but it looked like they were taking cards in the "cash only" line as well, so I didn't see any advantage.

I had a great time -- smooth release. I ran into a few familiar faces, as well as SpdKilz (!) from Chicago. I wish I could stay longer and drink more, but I had to drive. I wish I lived near a BART station. Hopefully I'll move to Fremont next year (not a phrase I ever thought I would utter).

I got there with my friend and his wife, but was mingling inside with the Barrel House crew shortly before they started letting people in. Umm, I think I had a blue Pacific Beach shirt on, black cap, grey shorts. My friend was wearing an A's jersey, but so were a few other folks.

    1Candle is amazing!!

Right? I was just replying to your post above. I thought that was SpdKilz I saw...met him at the Younger release last year, but wasn't sure if it was him.

My friends went up and brought back some beers. Damn! Both the Aroma beers are great. I heard nothing but good things from the beer creeper about the release, I wish I could have went.
