One of the packs at my local bottle shop broke and they sold the bottles individually. I picked up lucky bastard and Bourbon barrel aged bastard for $4.99 each!

Got a box at Costco and also a Lagunitas 4pak for about 15.00 which isn't a great savings but still a decent deal. The Lukcy Bastard had a nice sweet taste but still subtle.I would definitely buy it again.Haven't tried the 2 big brothers yet though.

$20 in Connecticut .... can't beat that when Double B sells for $9 alone

Now, now, I don't think anyone drank BBAB expecting BCBS. But I agree with others saying it was a bit of a letdown. Too me it tasted too much like straight AB. And while that makes it a fine beer in its own right, I expected it to give off more of those decadent barrel characteristics.

To your point about it being on par with blending in ~1/4th Backwoods with regular AB, I may have to give that a whirl. I suspect the blend will be better, but who knows?

Also, can't complain about the price, except that I probably wouldn't have bought the box if I had known ahead of time that I'd be disappointed by the barrel aged version. Oh well. I'll still enjoy the other three.

Had the bottle of BA bastard. Still underwhelmed. Though not bad you get four beers for 20 something. I'm still on the side against Stone. They really have not been wowing me as of late.

Jeez, must be those high standards you get from living in the PNW. Even at $20, that's $5/bomber for four beers that average a BA score of 92. I'm not saying you can't find other similar dollar:quality values (Hop Stoopid, for example), but it's hardly the norm. And at the risk of derailing the thread, much of the rest of Stone's portfolio is solid-to-great (all of the QM stuff, Enjoy By, Xocoveza, w00tstout, Master of Disguise...). But, to each their own.

They're open at the corners so you can see all four bottles....should be pretty safe.

I purchased a few of these at Costco today. $14.99 for the box. That averages out to $3.75 per beer.
I saw the box at Bevmo (unmarked/priced) and thought that given the price of the three bastards, plus the BA Bastard, I expected the price to be around $40. Great job Stone!

Just killed another Lukcy. If they'd release this box year-round, at this price point, it would be my go-to. As it is, I'm considering buying my fifth box (I'll be socking several of the DBs and BAABs away).

All of them could be drunk right away or aged a year - I love beers where I don't have to pay attention to the date crap. Agree the DB is most ageable.
