    I was going to skip this, because my beer inventory is way high, when I assumed it was the four common bastards, but now I really want to try the Barrel Aged version.

    When did you have it? I had it in september and the barrel was prominent. I've heard Stone was experimenting with aging times with this one, you may have got a young one.

    not that anyone really cares, but i'll point out that barleywines and scotch ales are the same thing.

    the only difference is that sometimes scotch ales have peat smoked malt, while barleywines are generally called "smoked barleywines" if someone decides to put smoked malt in it. but really they're just the same big malty high gravity beer. and of course backwoods bastard doesn't have any peatsmoked malt.

    I had it in June, so you're probably right. I'm glad you mentioned that, because I have enjoyed every version of Arrogant Bastard I have ever tried. I guess I'll have to pick this up to confirm.

    Huh, I had no idea. There are really no differences in terms of the malt or hop type or quantity? I tend to like Scotch ales less than barleywines, but maybe that just means I need to start drinking the former blind!
