With literally zero information about what the beer is supposed to taste like, what is there to think?

5.8% ABV according to the TTB COLA label but no other info, other than "DRINK FRESH, NUMBSKULL".
    I imagine they're going for a "pilsner-like" taste...

My guess would be a hoppy pilsner

Hmmm. Is this going to be in addition to the Hoppy Blonde they mentioned on the Stone release calendar?

    2016 NEW RELEASE

    Hoppy blonde
(4.7-5.3%) • Cans & draft • Would you expect a blonde brewed by Stone to be anything less than hoppy? Neither would we. And in cans, no less. June

I am very much hoping it will be like:

"At last year's National Homebrewers Conference in San Diego I had the pleasure of drinking a Stone Pilsner (I had many pours) that was brewed at the Stone Liberty Station brewery. They used a 'new' German hop of Mandarina Bavaria to brew this particular beer. It was very, very good!"

    Cheers!

I think carton used that hop in their Sit Down Son beer. It is very good.

All I know is that if STONE/ARROGANT continues to can and price like they are with these new 16oz Bastard cans than they are going to get a lot more of my $$$$$

Hopefully not crazy hopped up, but I'm excited! I think Pivo Pils or Prima is about as hoppy as I like my pilseners and that's pushing it.

Hmm, I'm usually skeptical of hoppy pilsners, but if anyone can pull it off, it's probably going to be these guys. Will definitely try it if I come across it.

Hope it's not TOO American of a take, but I'm excited for this for sure. Lagers really are coming back. Finally.

5.8% abv makes me immediately skeptical that it will simply be an overly hoppy Pilsner. I like my Pils in a tight 4.9 - 5.1% abv range that I've noticed appears to be a sweet spot of sorts for German Pilsners. That's not to say there aren't good examples that aren't ~ 0.5% in either direction, like Troegs Sunshine Pils at 4.5%, and while it's on the hoppier end, Pivo Pils at 5.3%. The ones that are hoppier tend to be higher in abv as well (although Troegs comes in at 45 IBUs, but doesn't come off as hoppy as a Prima or Crisp), Prima at 5.3%, The Crisp at 5.4%, and the aforementioned Pivo Pils.

So...5.8% abv for a Pilsner makes me think there's something else going on here, and that something else might be hops. But, I have no clue, and when it comes out I'll definitely give it a whirl. Even if reviews pour in that it's overly hoppy, I'll still give it a try. Stone decades of experience and brews good beer, if they want to brew a more traditional Pils, I imagine they can. I won't know until I try it though!
