I don't fit into any one category. I guess I'm more of a beer geek/populist/binge drinker.

Populist for sure, I love trying anything I can get my hands on, sharing with others, and helping people find something that might suit their palate. Still have plenty to learn though!

I'd say I'm a populist. I like talking about beer, but only with someone who wants to hear it and talk back. I'm sure some might call me a snob but only because I've ordered a diet coke on occassion rather than having a bmc.
But I don't begrudge someone else their brew or refuse one offered in hospitality. If I'm paying or if there seems to be a polite (yet manly) way to decline, I'll choose something else.

I'm not actually sure the last two groups exist anywhere except in the fevered dreams of people like the author. I've certainly never met one.

My 21 y.o. son came up with another one. He calls me a beer queer. I consider it a mixture of all 5 styles.

I noticed there was no actual definition for beer snob. It's an easy category to put other people in whenever they do something that annoys you.

I consider myself a beer receptacle first and a beer evangelist second. (I've definitely been known to toe the line of a Know It All.)

Based on these categories, I would fall into the populist category, with hopes of achieving beer geek status someday, since that would mean I would be much more knowledgable than I am now. (And maybe not too lazy to get into home brewing!). Unlike some people on this site, I make it a point to talk to a couple people about my love of beer simply because I know they're not remotely interested (and yes, my mom is well aware that is why I do it!).

I'm a little bit of each.
