    Hey,

My buddy is taking an epic journey from Asheville to SLC. I've been doing a little research and it looks like Bruisin Ales will make a fine stop As well as Wicked Weed and Burial. Any other bottle shops you all would recommend? Also, can you suggest some "Must Get" beers from Wicked and Burial (or anywhere else). I like pretty much everything but sours. Thanks for any suggestions!

Tasty Beverage, Appalachian Vintner, and Bruisin Ales are the 3 beer stores in town, each is good for their own thing. App Vintner is probably the best all-around (though I prefer the convenience of Tasty being in South Slope). What's available from Burial will be highly dependent on when your friend is leaving. Surf Wax is fairly commonly available (always available in Asheville potentially?), also pick up any IPAs or dark beers from Burial, hell, pretty much just any beer in whatever styles you like.

Give it time. Sours will eventually become your favorite beer type. Then you'll wish you had gone to Funkatorium.

He'll be there Monday afternoon and leave Tues morn. i'll just have him swing into both breweries...Burial was showing like 110 beers so not sure what was actually available. Thanks for the other 2 bottle shop suggestions....We might have to go with those cause Bruisin Ales is showing it closes early at 6:00pm on Monday. Can anyone confirm if thats true? I tried calling but no one answered.

Appalachian Vintner and Tasty Bev are both better than Bruisin Ale's in my opinion and are closer to Wicked Weed and Burial. I'd scrap Brusin Ales from my list.

Wicked Weed Pernicious IPA and Freak of Nature DIPA are both very solid and easy to get.

Burial Hawkbill IPA, Surfwax IPA, and Gang of Blades DIPA are all really good too. The brewery should have any of their collaborations and 1 off beers for sale in their coolers.

I just received an email from Burial that in the 30th they are have a big can release. The big one is their Skillet series beers. Try and grab that. Seems like a lot going on at Burial this weekend. Cheers

9, 10, 11, & 12 are almost certainly still available at OHB (in Hickory, not Asheville). Looks like Bruisin still has them (at least on their website, which is generally accurate). Not sure if App Vintner or Tasty do or not, but maybe. There's a thread on this board for the Spectrum release where you can check out people's impressions. This set of Spectrums differs by barrel used to age and generally they're liked as you'd expect based on barrel, generally Rye > Rum > Gin/Tequila. I thought they were all good counterpoints, but base Event Horizon (which is Bourbon barrel aged) is so good that its tough for any of those to be better.

Great! I see the Event Horizon on Bruisin Website. they Also have a BA Scotch ale Wavell Gunn...$27 a bottle. How does this stack up against Wulver and Backwoods Bastard? I want to get a bottle or 2 but $27 is pretty steep

As a general rule of thumb, if Olde Hickory puts it in a barrel it’s almost always great.

I'm surprised they still have Wavell Gunn still as it was released in 2016. That being said, its still drinking well, though I haven't had a bottle in about 6 months. I really like Wavell Gunn, it was the surprise of that release as it was released next to Dread God (a BA imperial stout) that everyone was interested to try and, to me, Wavell Gunn was much more interesting.

    This.

Also, OHB Photon Sphere -might- be out when your friend comes through. OHB put out information on it, but didn't say when it'd hit distro. That's basically a re-brew (or at least the same adjuncts) as the 2nd Spectrum 4, if you're interested in spicy stouts.
