Im going to be vacationing in Myrtle Beach this next week and discovered that my road trip will be taking me through Asheville. If you had to choose one Brewery and one Bottle Shop to stop at, which ones would you choose? I was thinking Wicked Weed for the brewery and Bruisin Ales for the bottle shop. Big question, is there outdoor seating at Wicked Weed where my dog friend is welcome? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
Wicked weed definitely. They do have outdoor seating and are very dog friendly. Bruisin Ales is good and walkable from WW. However I like Appalachian vintner as well. Much bigger and a larger draft list (if I remember correctly).
Weed has plenty of dog-friendly seating (most of the breweries in Asheville do really; Asheville in general is a very dog friendly town). They have outdoor seating area up front for dining, and they have an outdoor area downstairs that I think doesn't serve food. For the downstairs area I usually walk around to the left of the building down the ramp to that area. You might be able to bring your dog through the building to get to downstairs (the way you really are supposed to do), but bringing dogs indoors at restaurants is supposed to be a no-no so I've never tried. Breweries that I know you can have dogs at: - Wicked Weed - Burial - Green Man tasting room - Asheville Brewing - Pisgah
I can't say at the moment (maybe one of the Asheville peeps can), but any time I've been in the last couple months they've always had at least a couple different bottles for sale.
It would shock me if they didn't have bottles for sale. Last time I was in there they had 3-4 different beers for sale in bottles. I think you can count on it from them, especially now they're storing the sours in a much larger, new facility. App. Vit. is on the left as you're heading to Wicked Weed off of I-40, exit 50 (Biltmore House Exit). AV is located about a mile... ish off on the left as you begin to climb the hill across from the Subway. You would stay on this road and it will take your right to WW, again on the left but right as you get into Asheville proper, another 2 miles.
Pretty sure they will be having bottles pretty regularly. I was up there a couple weeks ago and they had a ton.
Yeah, bottles for sale downstairs.. I was able to back on Memorial Day, get a bottle of I think everything but one beer they've bottled. I've heard Black Angel is gone.. I'd highly suggest the Genesis and Oblivion. Both of those were fantastic. My wife, who's not much of a beer drinker, but will try ANYTHING I have, or brew, really liked the wild blonde ale with the hibiscus aged in wine barrels. Forget which one that was. Really pretty beer actually. Anywho- I'll add to go to AP if you want bottles of stuff. Brusin is within walking distance, a fairly decent walk, but on the same road in downtown. It's a really, really small shop, with some premium pricing, so I tend to go to AP for my hauls when in town.
Oblivion is sold out. Terra locale available as of yesterday. Yea app vintner over brusin for sure. Literally every brewery is dog friendly
I'm hoping that terra locale is still there when I'm in town. Anyone looking for stuff from Nashville, let me know
