Ok so I cant believe that no ones given him breweries. Green Man has been tapping some pretty intereting looking Berliner Weisses lately. Highland isnt exactly blowing me away with non-distributed Kolsch. I mean seriously, Kolsch is just boring. If you can make it over to hickory, Olde Hickory puts amazing stuff into barrels, and gets out some damn good stuff. I cant think of a bad BA beer from them. I mean Daniel Boone was alright, but not bad. Most of the others in Asheville dont exactly brew a beer thats out now that will blow your mind (I mean not that Ive had).

Its a cool place to be with an amazing beer culture, but the quality of each specific beer is what I question.

The two bottles of Greenman Dweller I got were drinkin' PRETTY DARN good...

Best IPA in that area though. Nantahala Brewery's Noonday. Period.

I wish I could try Green Man stout, but that price point is just too damn high. $20 for a local stout? i think not.

Asheville is a place for cool bars good music, and decent beer. Nothing that is local and usually available makes me do cartwheels. Can't remember seeing anything Olde Hickory, maybe a Foothills Torch Pils on an odd tap. Wedge IPA is good, Noon Day IPA is also good, hated the Lemongrass IPA though. I've heard Greenman Stout isn't worth the 20 bucks, doesn't make it not good just not worth the money, especially when I paid 17 bucks for Parabola.

    It's actually worth every penny imo. $20 really isn't a bank-breaker.
What are these Berliner Weisses you speak of? I must have missed these..

Thanks for all the tips. I have been working up a nice beer to-do list!

    Cheers!

A friend from Asheville came down a few weeks ago and brought a Dweller. I was impressed. The same guy also raves about Wedge. Apparently there's a place where you can tube down the French Broad, stop at Wedge, then tube on to a BBQ place? That sounds like a winner to me.

At a run rate of $65.45 a six pack, I'd respectfully disagree. I think bomber pricing on many of these beers is long overdue to get reeled in, and I suspect it's already happening given how many of these (and other similarly priced) bombers I see languishing on shelves.

I see your point, but to be honest with you it's still just 20 beans. It should have been $15 for sure. But it wasn't, and it didn't stop me from buying a bunch of 'em. It's delicious and it made great extras for my favorite trading partners.
