This one's a little late--starts right about now

    Saison showcase

Burial Beer is starting the weekend April 18 with a saison festival, featuring almost two dozen beers from 19 N.C. breweries. Saisons are farmhouse ales that originated in French-speaking areas of Belgium. And they fit perfectly with Burial, which looks to build a farmhouse brewery in 2015. Burial will have Machete Dry Hopped Saison, Fourche Bier de Mars, a bourbon-barrel aged saison and another beer to be announced.

Beers at at the festival include Asheville Brewing’s Darn Farm Saison; Twin Leaf’s Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Rye Saison; Highland’s the 20th anniversary saison; Catawba’s Le Sassy Belgian IPA; Green Man’s Grisette (a little known low-alcohol brew originally made for miners); French Broad’s Foyer Saison; Oskar Blues Session Saison; Oyster House’s Corbin’s Last Stand Biere de Mats; Trophy Brewing’s Best in Show citra-hopped saison; Crank Arm Breakaway Saison; Full Steam’s Basil Farmhouse Ale, Natty Greene Saison and Unknown Brewing’s Lemon Drop Top.

Also participating are Pisgah Brewing, Wicked Weed, Hi-Wire, Wedge Brewing and Morganton’s Fonta Flora Brewing. Festival admission is free, with beers sold individually. Hours are 4-10 p.m. on the 18th, and if any beers remain, they’ll be available 2-8 p.m. April 19. For a full list of saisons and breweries at the fest, see www.AshevilleScene.com.
