I'm sorry but there is nothing sketchy on the South Slope. If you walk all the way down to the bought of the hill, and then up the next hill you might walk into a low income housing project. Don't be afraid because someone is from a lower income class than you or because the color of their skin is different. Asheville is a very safe place.

I've got Curate and The Nightbell on my radar for our trip. Haven't been to either so I can't definitively recommend them, but the chef/owner apparently spent some time at El Bulli.

Curate had some of the best Tapas we have ever had.
    .
We also thought the Admiral was excellent. Early Girl had some outstanding breakfasts

location location location. Asheville is overpriced period. it thrives off tourism. Driving the price up, especially in peak seasons

Granted, I probably couldn't stomach the peak season rates, but $183 in February wasn't terrible.

-Throw Zambra on that list as well. Great great food but not as fussy at Curate, which is awesome, but fussy.

Last time I was at Curate I was pounding wine out of a porron and everyone in the place was watching me. It was kinda funny because it seemed like such an uncouth thing to be doing in a place like that, but it was perfectly acceptable. I'm pretty good at it too, had a pretty long stream going. One lady asked if she could take a picture of me doing it lol.

Do you really wish for me to explain my personal experiences recently up at Lee Walker Heights to defend my post?

Interestingly enough, Lee Walker Heights is slated to be torn down in 2016 with a new mixed use residential area being developed.

Or I could explain the fact that I go there everyday to drive some kids to and from school.

Sure, try driving in there at night... When I drop my friend off who lives up there... It got so bad, he refuses to let me drive him up there anymore, he walks up from the bottom of the hill.

What is at the top of the hill that's so bad? A troll?

I'm not that worried about it, I'm just joking obviously. I'm sure you know what's up if you live there.

No one mentioned that Asheville has a troll problem. This changes everything.
