Love the, "Holy Grail" addition to the discussion.

To clarify, one last time, I feel safe walking the South slope brewery area of Asheville, I do it all the time. I would never hesitate sending anyone down to any of the Breweries. In fact, I will be down at Burial Brewing tonight if anyone is in town! If you haven't tried their Coconut infused Brown Ale, Bolo it is fantastic, better than their, "Donut Stout" in my opinion. Also, Burial has a wonderful light Pale Ale on tap as well.

I've lived within a short drive of Asheville my entire life - never once had a problem with safety there, and I've been stumbling around, late & alone, on many occasions. There's a good number of street people - but I've never experienced a problem... well, except for how damn crowded my weekend getaway has become in the last five years. My secret isn't safe anymore.

Heading up on Wednesday this week. Definitely going to need a coffee shop to work from Thursday and Friday mornings, and either a chill brewery or stay at a coffee shop Thursday afternoon. We were able to get reservations at Nightbell but not Curate. Is Curate the kind of place you can walk in at an off hour and grab a seat at the bar? Or is the bar reserved as well?

Adding to the list of needed recommendations - where is the best burger in Asheville? Excluding Farm Burger because that's in Atlanta.

Also heading up to Asheville this weekend. What brewery downtown would be best for watching the UNC/Duke game (i.e. which one has the best TV setup)? Last year we watched at Asheville Brewing, which was fine, but I was wondering if anyone else has put in a good sports watching area. Bonus points if they don't let Duke fans drink there...

My vote goes to either Pack's Tavern or Barley's Taproom, can't go wrong with either

Didn't Alice in Wonderland have The Bunny at The Troll Booth? That bastard on the bunny's left tried to drive through after he posted from Antarctica!
