Don't know how many will care but had to post. "Founders Day" at Ashleys in Westland:
10 oz pour of Backwoods Bastard for 7.95
5 oz pour of KBS for7.95.
I believe Doom was also 7.95 for 5 oz.
I know some will say don't go and/or dont pay but I just wanted it out there.

Wow. That sucks. I was going to swing by but ended up sleeping instead. Apparently I made the right choice. I didn't see anything posted/advertised ahead of time during their publicity for the event about small pours/higher cost than their normal drafts. I had just assumed it would be their normal pour, and I'm guessing others did as well. Somewhat misleading. I wonder if the pour/cost was Ashley's doing, or Founders.

The last few events at Ashley's haven't gone smooth from what I've herd. A LOT of complaining about pricing and the way things were ran

This is why I'm happy a bunch of other places around se michigan are getting into craft beer and are having big tap events. Ashleys in both locations has always been a ripoff. Now there is no pressure to go to their wallet ****** events if i want to have a rare draft. I was able to get a pint of bb cherry stout for $6 at a bar less than a mile from ashleys ann arbor. That same amt of bb cherry stout would have cost me at least $20 and required multiple pours.

Pricing for "rare" beers varies greatly from one place to the next, whether its bottles at bottle shops or pours at bars/restaurants, it's just the nature of the beast. Sometimes one just has to take what they can get, because not every "rare" beer tapping is advertised. As for the poor event running at Ashleys, I'd be willing to bet that its just some hurt feelings because some people weren't able to get what they wanted. They advertise their events very heavily, it's going to draw large crowds. Chances are there isn't going to be enough KBS or Black Note for everybody.

At least Ashley's doesn't make you buy pours of other beers in order to get some KBS.

I drove over an hour to check that place out last night.....left after less than an hour. I wanted to try Bolt Cutter.....5oz pour for 12$!!! Then the KBS ripoff. Needless to say I won't be back.

Btw, according to their FB they still had KBS 2 hrs after tap.

On my third KBS pour at 8th st grille on a early afternoon this spring, a very nice server grabbed my glass and she filled it almost to the very top..

Sadly it seems like Ashley's has a monopoly when it comes to Founders tap takeovers in Ann Arbor - I can't think of any other bars that have had one in the past few years. I felt really burned when I went to the last one (around the Bolt Cutter release) and all of their timed beers were something like $12 for 8 ounces. Thankfully they don't pull this crap during other brewery tap takeovers.

I'll be avoiding Founders events at Ashleys unless they happen to have something I've never had or lower their prices.

As long as people pay, it'll continue.

I know my money would not be spent at a place that gouges like this.

I will say the pricing was a bit out of whack, especially considering I it wasn't clearly posted at the beer stand.

My first order was a 5 oz. Doom, 16 oz. All Day & 16 oz. Rübæus (for the Mrs.) and I believe the total was just over 20$...I paused, inquired about the pricing and then paid. After that I stuck to All Day and mixed in a Backwoods and Imperial just because I could (and for 10 oz pours I wasn't too upset).

While everyone is entitled to their opinion, to say that the event was poorly run is a bit misleading. The beer garden is a great venue. Full menu available outside combined with good music and great weather; I was certainly happy with my day. Furthermore, I've never had a problem at Ashley's Westland, pricing, food or otherwise. At the end of the day vote with your wallet and it'll work out in the end.

Asinine... that's unbelievable. I'd be the sucker to pay $8 for the KBS, since I can never get my facking hands on it.

...Backwoods Bastard is $2 for a pint at Twisted Rooster during their Happy Hour when they have it (Winter, naturally).
