Those guys spent some money for sure. Everything looks top notch. I'm excited to try it.

I am shocked by how many beers they already have available if all of those taps are truly their beers...

Look at the picture of the guy opening the door. Those lions are popping up around town already. They've been on tap around town for about a month now.

Are they canning? On the site, there are cans sitting in front of one of the owners.

I don't think so, yet. But cans are definitely in their plans.

Plus, I wonder if, at some point, if they get large enough to gain wider attention, if the estate of C.S. Lewis will have anything to say about their name. After all, Magic Hat "owns" the digit 9.

On a side note (it's not worth its own thread), here's a quick video of the canning process for Boundary Bay's Ski to Sea ESB:

Does BB plan on canning other beers? I've seen the ESB around, but not really a style I seek out.

Has anyone tried any of their beers yet?

They'll be canning certain seasonals, generally the one's tied into an event. They canned the Irish Red as a fund-raiser for the Bellingham St. Pats Day parade, and they'll be canning the Traverse ale for the Bellingham Traverse race in mid-Sept. Other than that, I'm not sure what BB's plans are, as far as cans. BB's ESB (both the regular and S2S) are really more like hoppy Pale's (I call it IPA-Lite) than traditional English ESBs.

Yes, they've been in local bars for about a month now. They're new brewers, moving up from homebrewing, and I think they'll need some time to get used to their big system, and to tweak the recipes. I'm gonna give 'em a few months before I start judging them.

That's one of those non-statements that sounds like a statement. ;-)

I spent the afternoon in Bellingham today and stopped in at Aslan (along with Chuckanut, Boundary Bat and Kulshan. Wander wasn't open). Talked with the brewer and the general manager for a bit while trying Disco Lemonade Berlinerweisse, Megathrust DIPA and their Amber ale. Great beer in an absolutely beautiful space. We had lunch at Chuckanut, but the stuff coming out of the kitchen looked nice.

I was driving through Bellingham yesterday and contemplated stopping at Aslan, but didn't because they don't say on their website that they have food. Just looked at Facebook and it's obvious they do.

They need to update the website! Next time through ...
