Yeah, but you gotta remember that many of the winners have no real appreciation for the fact that they're getting 3 beers that haven't been available for 2.5 years to the people who actually frequent TG. They know it, but it doesn't carry any real meaning. It's just a whale hunting adventure for many. Accepting that fact, it's easier for them to think and hope the extras will be more highly limited beers and they might need a lot more money. They could be right though. We simply don't know.

I never been to Decorah, but I'm going to assume the crime rate isn't as bad as in, say Chicago or NYC. But that won't stop people from being afraid an idiot might still decide to rob them. Or people might not want to accidentally lose some of their cash. People who never been there may not want to have to worry about looking for an ATM in a unknown area, too.

What they really want to know is WHAT those beers are. I'm guessing if it was something you needed another $200 for, it would have been in their interest to let people know that beforehand. I'm sure they could do without the entitled beer-dork backlash that would result.

But who knows, bring some extra cash and a change of underwear just in case?

I know right? Who doesn't carry around $500 cash at all times.

Agreed, seems to me to just be an indirect way of stating "please tell me what these beers are as I can no longer tolerate not knowing". Regarding the fears of crime-ridden Decorah alleys & regular occurrences of ATM hold-ups, if folks were given the opportunity of purchasing a case of KBBS at the event, there would be no qualms or hesitation of showing up with an attache case full of bills. Just bring a money belt then and worry about any extra beers at the event.

Actually yeah, I never carry cash so I'd like to know how much I need to travel with.

LOL. So you think Clark might sell even more expensive and rare beer as the surprise extras?!

Seriously, their hops are $10/ or less. Even if they dropped a surprise stout at $50/bottle you'd be fine with $70. I can't imagine someone willing to travel to and pay $200 for 3 bottles can't bring an extra hundred and not worry about being robbed in Decorah. :grimacing:

I'm not magically teleporting to Decorah. Some of us are traveling a fair distance. I'd rather not travel with more cash than necessary or worry about tracking down an ATM. Push comes to shove, I guess that's just what I'll have to do, but it would be nice to give a little bit of a heads up. That's all I and other people are asking.

A good question is: Would you rather know now that you need an extra $50 for hops or learn at the taproom that you needed $150 for hops and stouts?

Everyone ought to just ignore that guy. Sounds like a bitter troll.

Edit: Not you, the original guy bitching about other people.

I seriously understand that. Just surprised so many are worried about it.

Hops are what, $10/bottle or less?! So even if they do an incredible big stout surprise at $50/bottle you'd still be fine with $80.

I really doubt TG would make it cash only and then have the surprises cost close to the main event, no?

Easy solution. Bring $150 in case there are hops & malts. If only hops & no malts, spend $50 on the hops and take $100 back home.

LOL, you are making good use of your 5th and 6th posts here. Far from bitter!

I am actually just watching with excitement for friends that get to go. Just found it humorous so many seem to be worried about bringing some extra cash just in case. It's not hard to put $ back in the bank. I didn't even enter the lottery.

Here's a thought... Bring too much cash. Put leftovers back in bank. Problem solved.

You sound really bitter when you demean other people about something that is completely rational and logical to ask. That or stupid. Your choice.

I'll feed you though troll. Most people don't carry around a few hundred dollars in cash (I usually carry zero cash FWIW). The questions are being asked so that those curious/attending the event, know how much to withdrawal, not be surprised and rush to find an ATM, and/or not have to withdrawal money, just to deposit it back in their accounts. You knew this answer and logic though, you just chose to ignore it to make your lack of a point (AKA trolling).

You are the only one trolling here adding nothing to the conversation. TG has been asked on all formats what they are and how much. Complaining about it seems fruitless. Just bring plenty. If you don't have plenty extra then it doesn't matter?

Everyone going already has to have $200 cash on hand just to pickup the 3 beers! Complaining because you don't want to have to deposit leftover money back into the bank is kind of funny, no?

I understand a lot of lottery winners have never been to Decorah. Let me assure everyone that ATMs are not scarce. You won't need to hunt one down. There are plenty. After all, it has a real college. But don't let me stand in the way of a Georgia/Florida/Illinois/Indiana/Michigan/Arizona/Texas TG battle. Usually it's just Minnesota folks arguing with each other!

This isn't just a "usual" day...it's like, a vacation. YOU BRING MONEY ON VACATION. As noted, this vacation also happens to not be in a Third World country. That's it, it's simple, just bring some damned money people.

No ATMS exist in frigid northern Iowa! Nothing but guns and corn! Also, hope you're not taking a car to Decorah as there's no place to park, however, there is plenty of room to tie up your horse!

I reckon I'll bring $200 cash, 3 gold nuggets, and an old brass lamp. Maybe they'll let me barter for some bottles.
