I'm sitting around the 1,500 bottle mark, down from about 1,650. I keep a detailed excel spreadsheet, and recently sorted all of it by style and re-organized the new shelves. New shelves are 2'x8', five shelves high, and the PT plywood is sitting on commercial grade shelves.

Bottles meant to be consumed now either go directly to the fridge or front and center on the bottom shelf. I've had a few bottles over the years turn on me, but overall the experience has been great, and I love going "shopping" in my own cellar.

Because in this case, my statement is entirely correct.

Why are you quoting something I posted nearly a month ago?

Since I'm basically a technological idiot, I made my avatar a recent pic from the cellar. The shelves go about another 2 feet out of view, and then the wine racks start. The wine racks hold 420 bottles in 21 bottle tall columns - that's where the lambics are stored. Not quite full yet, but about 3/4 full.

Im sure you can figure it out just upload to photobucket and copy the link in here. Those shelves look good like that. Im trying to decide what to build/put on on of the walls i have as my beer room is 2 built in shelves and the other shelf has a dumb waiter on it but i may take that down to put either wine racks or shelving like you have.

I know I have too many bottles right now (around 700 commercial and 200 hOmebrew). However, most of my cellar is young '08 or newer so I have some time to work on it. To solve my problem I've been drinking anything not tied up in a vertical and I try to buy sours if I plan on putting more beer into the cellar.

I've been collecting since probably Novemeber of 2011. I've spent way too much money and done way too many trades and now have what, for me, is an unmanagable amount of bottles: 120 or so. I updated a spreadsheet over the weekend, but I've already gotten 20 new bottles since then due to BIF winnings. And last week I ordered 20 bottles of Eclipse futures. And I work 150 yards from a store that carries Heady Topper (my spreadsheet doesn't include things I mean to drink very soon).

But, I figure, who needs money when you can have beer!?

    Here's my cellar: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AiMqWP4nwK6MdGN0Yi1tTWxpWHZfMDZrTHBRT2lCNWc#gid=0

Over the weekend I bought my first fridge for beer. It's a very large dorm style fridge...and about 1/3 of my bottles fit into it. Over the summer, my cellar hovers around 70-75 degrees...so I'm worried things will be too warm. I've put the things I could potentially keep for years in the fridge, and kept things I meant to drink in the next 6-12 months on shelfs in the cellar. We'll roll with this for now. Can't afford what would be ideal: a full size fridge. At some point, I'll probably pick up a used full size fridge.

    Beer is addicting.

Just the other day I almost thought for one fleeting micro second that I actually DO have too much beer in the house. Then the thought vanished as quick as it came. That was fucking close.

Do you go into every thread in this section and say that? If cellaring is something you don't enjoy, go spend some time on a forum about something you do enjoy.

And who cares how long ago you said that?

Yes. I post in every thread in this subforum and say that.

Holy hell, are you this dumb in person, or do you only make an online habit of it?

My response wasn't a serious question, as I assume you have a life outside of being an obnoxious asshole on beeradvocate. The fact remains that you essentially came into a thread about cellaring beer and said that cellaring is stupid. What's the point in that exactly? It's his beer, he can do whatever the hell he wants with it. You coming in and telling him what he's doing is somehow incorrect for having a lot of bottles is ridiculous.
If a thread/forum doesn't interest you, stay out of it. Is that so hard?
