I'm going to be in Athens for work in a couple of weeks and staying in the downtown area just for one night. I'm traveling with several other coworkers and a long string of bosses on top of bosses will be there too. Because of this, I won't have the freedom to even hit up a brewery or drive to the Five Points Bottle Shop on my own and I don't foresee the work caravan catering to my hobby.

I did see that a new liquor store called Spirits on Washington just opened a couple of months ago. They're not far from my hotel and they advertise a craft beer selection. I'm hoping to pick up some local goodies like Terrapin or Creature Comforts to bring back with me to Minnesota. They look like they're close enough that I could walk over at the end of our one working evening in Athens and buy some beers. I'm hoping someone who's actually been there can shed some light as to what their selection looks like so I know where to set my expectations.

No help on the bottle shop but just wanted to throw out that if you're downtown and you have the time you should check out Trappeze Pub. I'm from Atlanta area but head over occasionally and always hit Trappeze, great beer and food.

I hope you can work it out to get to a shop there. Terrapin is always good but man Creature Comforts is killing it right now. Five Points is really impressive, it rivals our shops in Atlanta for selection. Looks like Uber is in Athens now so if need be you could always get an Uber to the liquor store!
