Hey ATLiens! Im coming to Atlanta this weekend (Feb 20-22) for the first time and was wondering if there is any beer events or shindigs I should check out this weekend. Also what bars, breweries, stores, restaurants should I hit up while I'm here. You can post a link to a good thread, I know it bugs me too when it seems like every other week people are asking for advice for your city on BeerAdvocate, but just wanted to know if anything was happening this weekend. We'll be staying in the Buckhead area but I'm not opposed to driving around. Cheers!

Burnt Hickory Brewery has their monthly open house on Saturday, Februrary 21st. It's in Kennesaw but it's worth the drive. Here's a link to their tap list:

On Sunday, February 22nd, Sweetwater has their 18th anniversary party, but it appears to be sold out. Here's a link with info:

Bars: The Porter (Little Five Points), Brick Store Pub (Decatur)
Restaurants: Illegal Food (Virginia-Highland); it just opened last week, best burger I ever had, prepare to wait

You can check out the list BA provides for Atlanta as well:

It can suck to be in Buckhead and try to drive home from where some of the really great beer bars are, so the train is a good option. There is also Uber in ATL. If you are in Buckhead, you can get on the Buckhead or Lenox MARTA station and it will take you into Decatur. Lenox station has a free parking lot if you wanted to leave your wheels there.

From the Decatur stop you can get to Brick Store which is necessary for a beer geek. You can also walk to Twain's which is a brewpub with games.
From the Inman Park stop, you can walk a short distance and get to the Wrecking Bar. (brewpub with great food)
From the Avondale stop you can get to Blue Tarp Brewing and Three Taverns. They do tastings/tours Friday and Saturday.
You can also uber from either of these places and get to Little 5 for The Porter.

Porter is a 1-2 block walk from Wrecking Bar as well. You can easily make a night of beer/food in Little 5 Points or Decatur.

I'm brewing a saison on Saturday and splitting some bottles among friends if you'd like to attend that. I'm on the East side of ATL about 20 minutes from Buckhead.

We (Orpheus Brewing) are releasing our Double IPA, Transmigration of Souls, in the tasting room this weekend. We're actually close to Buckhead.
