Meeting a friend who will be in AC next week. Haven't been there in years (I find Mohegan Sun\Foxwoods an easier trip from Long Island).

Only going to be there on an overnight, so its far from a beer trip. I've seen The Seed looks like that place to check out in the area. And its convenient as we have folks on both sides of the marina. Is there any other place of note for local craft beer in Cesar's\Ballys or Hard Rock? Or any other brewery of note in that immediate area?

The Seed is great, I was just there a couple weekends ago for the 2nd time. Rye Lager, Dark Lager, Dark Mild were all top notch. If you are into Saisons, they had a bunch of bottles available. They do hazy IPAs too, but those are not my thing.

We had dinner at The Cardinal, a gastropub type place on New York Ave (so about halfway between Hard Rock and Ballys). The food was very tasty - scratch made menu, and the beer selection was pretty good - beers available from The Seed, Tonewood, Ludlam, Pinelands, Cape May:

When will you in in AC? Last summer when visiting a buddy in Ocean City we thought about going to The Seed but the days/hours did not work for us.

    “Taproom Hours

    Wed.....................................4:00pm-8:00pm

    Thursday............................3:00pm-9:00pm

    Friday..................................3:00pm-9:00pm

    Saturday...........................12:00pm-8:00pm

    Sunday..............................12:00pm-6:00pm”

    Cheers!

Next Thursday afternoon. So it will work for me, but I did check the hours myself. Been burned enough times.

    Please report back.

I have yet to visit The Seed brewery but I have had a number of their brands at various places in Cape May and beer festivals and all of those beers have been very good - excellent.

    Cheers!

But along those lines; are there any good bottle shops on right off the Garden State Parkway on the drive back?

I love The Seed and highly recommend if your trip matches up with their hours. I had the pub ale last time that was phenomenal.

As for food - I’ve been to WingCraft a few times when I am down there for work. Good burgers, nothing fancy, and solid beer list with lots of locals.

Lastly, for beer stores, I’ve visited Joe Canals in Egg Harbor several times. They have a ton of great local options, mostly cold too. It’s off Black Horse Pike, not the AC Expwy, right off the Garden State.

edit: assuming you are taking the GS Pkwy home, you can always hit Kane on the way out. It’s not too far off the parkway.

Do they have a beer engine at the taproom?

    Cheers!

I actually for the life of me cannot remember. Hopefully someone else in this thread can chime in.

Well, more specifically: was your "pub ale" served as a cask beer?

For example a bit warmer (50 - 55 degrees F) and lightly carbonated?

    Cheers!

I don't think they have a beer engine. The only pictures I've seen on their social media of their cask beer, the firkin is set up on the bar for gravity pour.

Another note though about their beer serving - they do have a couple of Lukr taps, the Rye Lager and Dark Lager that I drank when I recently visited were poured from those.

Nope, definitely not a cask pour.

Your recommendation for Kane wins. I've somehow never visited them, and they are listed to open on noon on Friday. Early enough to beat the Staten Island traffic!

Awesome! I've done a ton of travelling for work and used the threads for Utah, Florida, and Chicago the last couple weeks. Forum threads like this are why BA is a great resource.

Checked out The Seed yesterday. Place was busy. I had the Ancient Practices BBA stout and one of their saisons. Both solid. I'd consider them a boutique-style brewery; with many eccentric ales. Certainly a place for anyone who finds themselves in AC and wants a soid area brewery. Will hit up Kane on the drive up.

And just to close the loop; hit up Kane Brewing on the drive back towards NY. Those folks are crazy-good at stouts. Sampled a couple small pours and picked up some stuff to go.
