I feel like I'm the only one who didn't enjoy the citra pils. Hey, more for you guys.

Agreed. I gave it plenty of tries but just was not into the Citra. Still, it's great to see this as a regular (sub-seasonal?) offering from the brewery (and maybe it will mean I'll find their original Pils more routinely as a result of someone ordering from the wrong line on the order sheet?)

You are most definitely not. Was not my cup of tea at all. But as long as some people liked it, good for Schells.

I was another that did not care for the Citra hopped Pils. I am reaching the conclusion that Citra might not be for me (heretic, I know). Hopefully Mosaic will result in a better beer for this drinker.

The interesting thing is that Schells is putting/put more than a bit of a twist on the idea of a wet hop beer by going the lager route. Lager by the nature of the yeast that makes them need to be, or at least are most of the time, conditioned cold for a significant period of time compared to their "ale" counterparts. This aging period will show the wet hops in a different light comparatively. I really dug the Citra Pils, and as a fan of Mosaic, I'm positive I'll dig their most recent iteration. I think it best to take this into consideration when forming an opinion of Schells wet hopped beer/beers. Who else in the world makes a fucking wet hopped pils?

Agreed! August Schell is a pretty crafty MN Brewery.

Being that Schell's has German roots the Lager route vs. ale seems more logical in my mind. They tend to stick close to German styles with a few outliers. In a time where most every brewery has a Pale and IPA in their lineup; I think it's good they went this route.

Wow, this came out of nowhere for me, especially with what appeared to be mixed reaction last year. I happened to be a fan of the Citra Pils and really liked it on tap, but it was unique, and I understand why some may not have been a fan.
I too give kudos for doing the whole fresh hop thing as a lager. With this and Snowstorm coming out in the next few weeks, Schells is gonna' get a big bite of my beer budget in the next few weeks, and I'm happy to give it to them.

Oh, we should add this - a new blond doppelbock coming out in the next few weeks too.

Anyone try this yet? It just arrived in Madison and I enjoy a nice Lager. I just bought a bomber of Lakefront's wet hopped Lager today.

Yep, tasty stuff. As good as last year even though it's Mosaic hops this year.

Didn't really mean it as a knock on Mosaic hops, just didn't think I would like it as much as last years Citra, but it's just as good as last years.

I'm not a big pilsner guy and while beers centered around Mosaic hops have been hit-or-miss for me personally, I think this is absolutely delicious. I liked the Citra better (because I'm a Citra hop *****) but this is no slouch.
