Drinking the normal BBA hawkers now and really enjoying it. The coffee one was better, but still really good beer.

I was exaggerating in my previous post of course, but I have not liked the two 2016's I've had, nor the one 2017, the 2017 coffee was decent. I felt the standard BBA ('16 & '17) were far too thin for the style and the ABV, they both had of hints dry, over-oaked spirit (none of the desired caramel or vanilla or chocolate or nuttiness) and had a fairly heavy lingering ashy finish (wanted toasty!). The coffee was okay, it was still too astringent and it didn't mingle well with anything else present (it still felt like more of a cover-up than the tasty amalgamation it should've been).

It's awesome that y'all enjoy it, I don't mean to take anything away from that. I spend too much time with spirits (more often bourbon/rye) and am too picky to enjoy what I probably would've a couple years ago. I'm awful :/

I finally found this in Melbourne, at Carwyn Cellars. Couldn’t agree more: best non-barrel aged Aussie IS I’ve tried. Or maybe a toss-up between it and Edge Brewing’s Stagger Lee.

Pick this one up if you want a top quality non imperial stout. Big thick mouthfeel, big bitter chocolate finish. Reminds me of Rogue Chocolate stout, only thicker.

Now that's a reliably awesome stout! I remember it being everywhere years ago.

Definitely move on to the even better Péché Mortel if you want a treat.
