traveling thru Austin on Sunday and Monday with my family for some college visits and need a good place for dad to get some good craft brew and feed the kiddies. have teens and tweens. can you all recommend a good lunch and.or dinner place that is family friendly. Thx
2nd Pinthouse. I would say Banger's but I do not think they are open for lunch? Oddly, Whole Foods Domain has some good food (if you dont mind ordering from a counter) and a 45 tap beer wall. Not really the same thing though. Austin Beer Garden/Brewer is also good - but it only has their beer. Hopfields is a little pricier, so that may be out.
Pinthouse Pizza is great. Black Star Co Op is really good too and I'd say it's relatively family friendly.
In addition to BYOB places like food truck parks & BBQ for lunch (J Mueller is probably your best bet), I'd check this thread as well for suggestions. Central Market, HEB, and Whole Foods cafes are good for quick, relatively inexpensive meals and usually have a good (or at least decent) beer selection.
ill third or second pinthouse. bs coop for kids? id say not unless they like eclectic food and they arent a lunch place. (working at the apartments they havent been open for lunch while i was there, bastards lol) ill also throw in, sherlocks. not a great beer joint but 512 pp is there and somtimes lh milk stout ans some ipas, with food.
Billy's on Burnet - burger/wings/etc + beer Pinthouse Pizza - pizza + beer Both within quarter mile of each other. Both have video games. Billy's also has pool and darts. Both have outdoor seating.
thanks folks. we hit Pinthouse for dinner Sunday night and kids loved and mom and dad really loved it. Hit Easy Tiger for lunch on the way out to Lost Pines Resort and kids loved the pretzels and dad loved the jerky. Austin is great town.
