So, outside of the JK Funk and Sour Fest, what events are people looking forward to? Also, for an out of towner arriving on Friday and leaving after JK on Sunday, what events should I hit?
If I know about the event, I likely know about the calendar. My question was, of all of those events, which ones would an out of towner who has never been to any of those places outside of JK want to go to.
You can't go wrong with hitting up Hops & Grain, Hi Hat, Chicago House then Craft Pride for your Friday. Only Craft Pride has an event listed but all of these places are great. Draught House on Saturday and JK on Sunday to finish up their visit.
I really wish I took off work more for this. Considering going to the Lenoir dinner simply because I love that place.
I don't remember there being advance tickets available for this in the past. Once you are there you will need to buy tickets for your beers though.
No advance tickets... you walk in, pay a fee at the door (I think it was around $12 last year?) which comes with a glass and a few tickets and buy more tickets as you need them.
No need to buy advance tickets for the Draught House party. A word of advice on the Draught House party: they don't throw every one of the beers they have planned for the event on tap at one time. Nor do they tell you when anything will be tapped ahead of time. I make a habit of stopping by the party through out the day for several shorter visits in order to try and get a taste of all the goodies. I have found that if you plan on going at 1 pm and staying for a long time, you might end up wishing you had made alternative plans. Pinthouse Pizza is just down the road. So, I usually head there for lunch and a beer then meander back over to the DH. Rinse and repeat.
Also some of the beers never get tapped on Saturday and they end up tapping them on Sunday or throughout the week.
Hopefully that gets addressed this year - that was definitely a bummer in the past, when I showed up wanting to try something specific. Such a great event, though!
Any hint as to what DH will be tapping this saturday? Also, think i can get any special deals if its also my bday
It's alright, but this is the event of the year: http://austinbeerweek.com/2013/event/vfscs ROUTE: Black Star>Workhorse>Billy's>Pinthouse Pizza>Draught House
