    Hey y'all,

Been through a lot of extremely helpful threads re: breweries and bars, but haven't seen my specific question answered elsewhere:

We're going to Austin (staying S end of soco) next weekend and a buddy who doesn't care much about craft beer is doing shopping for our group before we arrive. What are a handful of good local beers I could ask him to keep an eye out for that are readily available in most places that sell packaged beer in the Austin area? I don't think I can convince him to swing by any of the fun bottle shops. We pretty much like everything but would probably stay away from sours. Some good pale ales, ipas would be nice to try.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Live Oak Hef, Oasis Meta modern, Hops and Grain Pale Mosaic would be my choices

    All fine choices

I think AndyChambers will miss it, but will Celis have packaging at (re)launch?

Thanks for the recs, the Meta Modern and Pale Mosaic especially sound like exactly what I was looking for, I will pass these along.

    Any other recs still appreciated.

Austin Beerworks Bloodwork Orange IPA. Real Ale 4 Squared (pale). I would go with Pale Mosaic over Meta Modern.

Meta Modern is just not as good as it once was. Inconsistent. I bought a 6 pack this weekend that was canned 3 weeks prior and it was disappointing. I haven't had a good Meta Modern can or draft in a long, long time.

All should be available at your local HEB (grocery store) if you are in the center core of town.

I will also HIGHLY recommend Real Ale Four Squared and their Axis IPA. Austin Beerworks makes pales and IPAs I've always enjoyed.

If you have any lager drinkers going, make sure they try Live Oak Gold. I generally dislike lagers, but it is excellent. Of course their hefe is ridiculously good.

Not an Austin beer, but Community mosaic is also nice and now in 12 packs.
