Austin Tasting?

    Hey everyone!

    So I just moved down to Austin and don't know many people down here, especially beer nerds like myself. I think it'd be cool to get a group of people together, bring in some bottles of good stuff people are holding on to and to have a mini tasting. I drove here from NY so I was able to stop in a few places and get some bottles that aren't really available around here: Surly's Darkness, FFF's BA Behemoth, GI Backyard and BW to are probably the most exciting ones. Would anyone be interested in something like this? Everyone brings a bottle or two of something that's not really from around here or is just a fantastic beer in general and we all get to try a bunch of awesome beers?

    Let's do this!

    There is a monthly one at Draughthouse on the first Sunday of the month at 3PM.

    It is a fairly large one (20-25 people I would guess). If you want a smaller one, I am sure some of us would be in.

    Oh really? That's awesome, thanks for the heads up! I moved here last week so I'm still getting to know the area. What sort of things do people usually bring in?

    I've never been to a tasting and would love to start coming to that monthly one, and I'd definitely be down for a smaller one as well.

    Is it still happening this Sunday with the Super Bowl going on?

    Well if there's interest we can find a date to do a smaller one then. I have a smallish one bedroom apartment so I could host but probably no more than like 10 people or so.

    Just moved back to TX from NoVA/DC. I have found some good bottle shops and bars but have not yet met any ATX BAs. I would be interested in more info on the Draughhouse tastings; need some help whittling down my cellar!

    They happen first Sunday of every month.. the Beerists host it usually around 3-4 pm? They usually post it here before each one, they are fun group to have bottle shares with.. and once you get to know enough you will tend to do smaller shares with whoever you get along the most.

    I recommend more people go to these..

    They just ask that you bring your own glassware.. you buy 1 beer from the bar and tip very well.

    It's usually bottles you can't get in Texas or that are not being served at Draught House..

    You bring what you want to share, usually 2 or 3 bombers.. heck, if you don't want to bring bottles bring cheese or food and it'll be okay, if you want to get a sense of what "bottles people bring to these".

    I'd be interested in going to a bottle share or hosting a smaller one. I'm just south of downtown and have some good stuff I've gotten a hold of the last few months.

    Someone set up a smaller one then, lol! I have a ton of beer to donate. BTW, @HawksBeerFan, welcome to Austin, I'm Landon, look forward to meeting you and grabbing a beer soon!
