My favorite Austin brewery, from a beer perspective, is Live Oak. I am a BIG fan of their Hefeweizen and Pilz. I don’t know anything about the brewery; just the beer.

If you are looking for brewery that is a bit more ‘different’ than I would suggest Jester King. Again, I know nothing about the brewery but they make some tasty beers.

There are lots of good beers in Austin including good beer from Texan breweries. I also am a fan of Real Ale Brewery which is located in Blanco, Texas. I actually saw this brewery (from the outside); they were not conducting tours the day I was there.

It sounds to me like a visit to Craft Pride is a MUST!!

Craft Pride is pretty good, right next to Bangers.

Jester King is a fun visit, it is in an old machine shed on a large property. Open on weekends IIRC. If visiting there are other breweries out on the west side of Austin.

 

I think a Jester King visit is kind of required. Austin Beerworks is great as well and the fairly new Zilker Brewing has some good beers and a relaxed atmosphere.
