Hey guys, I have a good buddy flying down to Austin this morning to visit his sisters and he's willing to grab me a few beers.. Now being from Pgh, PA I want to take full advantage of his generosity without goin overboard.. So I'm looking for a few good beers to try, I know Jester King is brewed in Austin and I'd love to try the Funk Metal and from wat I read he should also be able to find some Praire? Now without sending him on a wild goose chase does anyone recommend a good bottle shop he could stop at close to where he's staying? By the looks of it on google Map he's staying just north of the city near the Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park.. I chose the JK Funk Metal and Praire since I'm a huge fan of BA beers and haven't had either but is their anything I've missed that would be easily available to him? Thanks! Shawn
Walnut Creek park? His best bets are Whole Foods Domain, Spec's Arbor Walk and Sunrise Mart on Burnet. As far as JK beers, it is doubtful he will find anything out of the ordinary at the stores. He will just get their standard release stuff. For Prairie, he likely can find Bomb, Bible Belt, Wine Noir and maybe regular Noir. But, he may have to ask someone working in the beer sections for those beers as they often arent put on the shelf.
ABW Half IPA and maybe growlers of Live Oak or 512. This batch of Funk Metal hasn't seen distro outside of the brewery, and it's not on their to-go list this week, so he'd have to trade for it.
Bomb, & Bible Belt were on the shelves at Whole Foods Domain as of a couple days ago still. I was there two days in a row and they were still quite a few the 2nd day. Not sure about today though, but you can always call and ask. Specs had a 1 bottle limit and were not on the shelves there. They usually have a few Jester Kings but I haven't seen Funk Metal there recently. I think I saw Commercial Suicide, Noble King, and Le Petite Prince or something like that.... Central Market North also had plenty of bomb bible belt and wine barrel noir on the shelves and is about 15-20 minutes from Walnut Creek Park. Might be some Divine Reserve 14 still hanging around, and Boiler Room Berliner Weisse is around as well.
Yea I wasn't sure if the Funk Metal was available now or not but thank you for the info! As for the Prairie I'll pass on the info to him and hopefully he will be able to find a few for me.. Thanks guys!
I know that rosedale market had wine noir still as of last week. also sunrise mini mart on anderson mill could be a good choice for selections, and its closer than downtown if hes not willing to go that far into the city. +1 on whole foods domain as he could also have a beer at the bar inside while shopping for you.
#SS114 I should correct that address, not anderson mill, West anderson rd, BIG difference. Sorry for the confusion.
