Those of you that know me are aware that my son is on the autism spectrum (among other neurological issues) and The Autism Center of Tulsa is an important part of our lives (and countless others’ lives in our community). They are a two-woman operation that has done some amazing good and have some programs in the works that many believe will become national models. They are funded entirely by private donations and are a 501c3 non-profit that you can check out on Guidestar.
My goal for this fundraising event is $5000 (last year we made $3600) and I am positive with the support of my family and friends, I can accomplish it. All of that said, for every $10 you donate to them using the link at the bottom of this post, I will enter your name in a drawing for a 3-liter bottle of Prairie Artisan Ales 2nd Anniversary beer. All donations will go directly to The Autism Center of Tulsa and I will never have possession or control of any of the money. Drawing will be done on November 25th and names will be randomly selected using a basic random selection program written by a programming student at the high school where I teach.
Due to the generosity and continued support of my dear friend Freddy Lamport, I was lucky enough to purchase 3 bottles at BierGarten Wine and Spirits in Jenks, Oklahoma at the shop’s actual cost. I’m happy to scan and provide receipts if that’s, for whatever reason, helpful in establishing legitimacy.
As an incentive for donations, I created two thresholds to reach my goal. The first bottle will be given away no matter the final total. If I get $10, someone is very lucky. After $2500 or more is donated, I will pull a name for a second bottle. For $5000 in donations, I will pull a name for the third bottle. I will also start putting together some other boxes of great beer for additional drawings and will update as those boxes are put together.
To be clear, The Autism Center of Tulsa has created a special grassroots fundraising page for me but they are not aware that any alcoholic beverage is involved nor is this a raffle – I’m not sure they’d care but I don’t want them running afoul of any legal issues regarding raffles or anything like that – and have not endorsed anything along those lines. They ARE happy that I’m trying to fundraise and do right by them. This is not a raffle… it is me soliciting donations for them. I am however, as an individual offering an incentive to donate.
