Not sure if its ever been mentioned or discussed but just a thought, as unnecessary or non laissez faire as it seemed, would it be possible to set up alerts or email messages when a certain beer is posted as ISO or FT?

Also, in the same vane if there could be a way to match up those occasional ISO: X FT: Y and ISO: Y FT: X posts. Maybe alert the initial poster his desired beer was listed as FT. Obviously this may be a bit more difficult with variables in thread titles and additional lists posted within the thread post.

I know you can search specific forums and by titles and posts and all this, just thought it would be cool to have alerts like that.

When they fix the site and you can go to a beers profile and see who all has that beer in their "gots" you'll be able to shoot BMs to see if they are interested in trading. Should make trading much more efficient.

(I know not everyone that has a beer in their "gots" means it is up for trade, but once the functionality is returned maybe the gots section will go back to people listing only whats up for trade when they get tired of getting tons of BMs about the one and only rare bottle they have that they don't intend to trade)

It sounded like it was planned to have the same basic functionality as its previous incarnation, right? Plus that's still a big hit or miss type of chance, not to mention as you said that many people have their 'cellar' listed as well as tradable beers.

I'm just thinking in the same way you can set up alerts on craiglist, ebay, and the like that it would be pretty useful here as well for some people trying to trade not so often posted beers. (Albeit those are done mostly through phone apps or through third parties I believe)

Perhaps it will be implemented in the BA app as well when it develops out.

It would certainly be cool. And they did just hire a programmer...but I think he's going to be busy with other stuff for the foreseeable future getting all the site integration stuff ironed out.

I was told by the elders of the site that the "gots" list was always supposed to be used for trading purposes instead of just cellar organization. I think we'll have to get back to that once the integration is done.
