I was at a bottle shop that I frequent and I know they have a tendency to mark up some of their beers, but you can get a good deal if you hunt.

Anyway, this got me thinking that it would be awesome if each beer on here had a fair purchase price, akin to buying a car on Kelly Blue Book. This way, I would know if I'm getting taken or if $25 is just the going rate for a particular bottle.

This might be tough with rarity, and the distrubution of each beer. There are so many different markets that charge different for the same beer.

And takeout vs draft vs bottle in restaurant vs growler fill, etc.

Okay, so it was admittedly an unrealistic pipe dream. What I probably should have said was "this would be amazing" instead of "this would be helpful" - to avoid implying it was possible when it is probs not

Plus factor in trading and we may see some price-inflating by locals

but I agree in principle it would be cool

Edit - but beermenus could probably do this quite easily. They already distinguish between bar/restaurant/store and growler/draft/bottle/can

Well you said like KBB right? there could be a chart that denotes the price given certain factors :grinning:

Haha. Enter in how long you've aged it, at what temp, how "fresh" it is...problem is that after more than twenty minutes old, the calculator would start devaluing the beer for "severe hop aroma lost"

Have you ever tried walking into a Dodge dealer, Kelly Blue Book in hand, and start asking questions about the price of the Viper?

    Just. Stop. It.

Anyone ever use an app like Gas Buddy? That would be great for beer. Kudos to the OP. Unfortunately, it would require lots of consumer updates since stores would probably be unwilling to upload the data.

They could always include MSRP for common packages. That wouldn't be that hard.
