Now we'll select the top 3 roasted grains to advance to a 'combination' poll that will determine the one, two, or three roasted grain(s) that will actually be in the recipe. That way, the top roasted grains can be considered IN CONTEXT with each other. If this seems like an unnecessary step, consider the style and people's strong feelings about where their stout colors/flavors come from. I want to make sure each option/combo gets a fair shot. (I'll consider advancing 4 or more if there is a landslide for more than 3.)

If you feel strongly about one of these grains that's very similar to another, consider jumping on a
    bandwagon.

This poll will be open for 48 hours.

(For those who don't know what I'm talking about, see this thread about the first beer we did (and the
bazillion ensuing polls and the final recipes)...

I do like a chocolatey stout. My wife prefers them more coffee like, but she's not voting. :-)

Went with Black Malt and Roasted. I believe all the stouts and porters I have ever brewed have had chocolate and/or pale chocolate. Voted for Change.

I went with chocolate and roasted barley. Just did a coffee oatmeal stout that used those 2 roasted grains and it turned out fantastic.

I voted for chocolate, black patent and roasted barley. I see this as cold steeping equal parts of the three.

I voted roasted barley and chocolate malt. I associate black patent more with porters.

I wondered if anyone else was getting aggressive towards being the first to post. Maybe next time.

I voted for all of the dehusked malts, after I said I wouldn't.

I lean toward the sweeter side of the stout spectrum, rather than to coffee.

What about a 6.5% beer that finishes at 10-18?

I went with BP malt, as I like the slight ashy charcoal taste. Midnight wheat because I like wheat in beers for body and foam retention and it's a good smooth roast.

Roasted barley, because I want to argue that a stout HAS to have roasted barley.

Pale Chocolate, and Chocolate, because I love, love, love the combo of the two. Makes a great smooth, sweet milk chocolate flavor to the stout.

I use 2/3 roasted barley, and split the other third between the black patent and chocolate malt, if I have it on hand.
