I went to the Spring Cypress Specs today to pick up a couple of these-and noticed that the bottled date was May 2013!! From what I understand these are just hitting the shelves in Houston. Anyone know why we're receiving 3 months after the bottled date?
And has anyone tried this yet?

3 month old IIPA-we know what happened to Karbach Hop Delusion after that time frame..downhill it went.

I had it last week and you could definitely tell it was somewhat old. Mostly malty with faded hops..

Gotta love distributors and TABC. It's a combination for old IPAs.

What confuses me is how Enjoy By can make it out in a week. Are the distributors and TABC paid to rush that through and then paid more to make sure every other IPA is detained for months on end.

And yes, it's going downhill. Still not awful though.

Sculpin comes in pretty fresh as well.

Enjoy By's distro is carefully regulated by Stone IIRC.

I really enjoyed it. Even after 3 months it still had a very powerful (and very dank) hop character. Would've loved to try it fresh though.

Sclupin comes in at a month old if we are lucky. Considering the bottles are crap by then, I'd not call that a good thing.

I'd like to see if the can helps that.

I drank a bottle tonight and I drank a fresh bottle at a Nobi tasting and I can't say it has fallen off much at all.

I thought it was still drinking pretty good, which I wasn't expecting. Sometimes IPAs can surprise you with their staying power.

Having a bottle now-still tastes fairly fresh but I didn't have a fresh bottle to compare it to. Decent beer as it drinks now.

Yea, like 3 months lag. This was probably fantastic fresh.

bought two about 2 weeks ago and they were still amazing. i shouldve grabbed more with the world market 30% off. if you come across them they are still a tasty brew. its too snobbish to not pick one up just because it was brewed in May.

Same, except I thought the bottle I had last night was better than decent.

Having one right now from the bottle. I also had it on tap and got a growler of it around the same time- maybe 2 months ago. I've never been a huge believer of the "hops fade quickly" school (mostly because I have not experienced it), but this one has. But it's definitely not as sharp and hoppy as it was earlier (also difference in packaging). Still a good beer but would not buy another.

I think one of the bigger issues is the fact that most of this stuff sits in distro warehouses generally unrefrigerated!! In the summer here thats gotta be bad
