Wow! I need to go to Mass and get this. Nobody makes high abv stouts better or easier drinking!

Where'd you hear that it'd be released on October 12? Distro states?

Avery's Facebook page. No idea if this will make it out of state or not. It really depends on how much they sell at the brewery. There's always a chance it won't even make it to distro. It's quite a bit smaller than their recent releases.

This it's going to be an expensive fall. This, then BA Tweak, my wallet is going to be hurting!

Its interesting that they chose to age it 5 months in the bottle, you don't see that a lot. It kind of makes me think it didn't turn out the way they wanted.

it was between black or brown eye. Easy decision considering...

To the best of my understanding, it was just bottled a few weeks ago. They pulled samples back before the original release and decided to leave it aging in barrels longer, not bottle conditioning.

I think "make your brown eye blue" was also in the running

Hopefully it's better than Black Tot.

I'm pretty sure that label is just a mock-up; they post those sometimes in the CO forum. It has the wrong abv on it as well (if the abv is actually 18.87%).

Black Tot was infected. It was only ~10% and this one is over 18% so the likelihood of it being infected too is minimal. It'd be interesting if you could find a black tot still and do a side by side comparison to see if there's any similarities.

Poo. This one is just a brewery only release. The rest of us out of staters are SOL.

Actually if anyone lives in the general vicinity of Avery and can grab a few bottles of this and Tweak, PM me so we can talk details.

From what I heard from a worker is that they were worried it would be infected like Black Tot was. Hence the name, Black Eye.
They were doing tests on the bottles to see if it would turn out fine. Heat tests and such.
Some employees had bottles at time of the original release date.
So, I'd say it was bottled and not held in barrels.

Black Eye this weekend, Antonius Carmen (BA 23) in a few weeks, and then Tweak in early November?!? Well well well they are going out with a bang at the old brewery! Cannot wait.... although my wallet is saying otherwise.

What's Antonious Carmen? Neither that nor BA 23 turned anything up when I searched for it on this site.

    EDIT: Nevermind. I found it.
