I really like Avery beers, late last year my local bottel shop told me that he couldnt get Avery anymore that they dont distribute in FLorida any longer. I figured that is possible, with some the guys pulling back on distribution like DFH and others it didnt seem out of the ordinary.

Then last week I take weekend trip to Boca/West Palm and AVERY is everywhere and even in CANS. I'm like WTF. Did Avery piss off the local distro or vice versa. Whats the deal. I want my Avery and I dont want to drive to South Florida.

    Cheers

It's quite possible your distro just dropped it, though I can't imagine why. We never lost distro down here, so I can't comment. It's all a bunch of finnicky politics.

Avery stuff is still over here (east side of Tampa). Local shop got in Maharaja a week or two ago. I would blame your distributor as well.

That sucks, though, as they are a solid brewery.

Avery pulled out of Central FL sometime in 2011. They left their distributor there but stayed with their distributors in all other portions of the state. They can do this. But they must remain out of Central FL for 1 or 2 years (can't remember which) before they can sign with a new distributor there.

Some breweries do these things because of supply and others because of issues with the distributor. From what I've heard from some people Avery's case is the later. It's an awful situation to not be in one particular area of the state for awhile but if you are in a really bad situation with the distributor they may view it as the best scenario.
